Senior Full Stack Developer

Dublin | Hybrid / Flexible | €70,000-€80,000

MCS Group is partnering with a growing Irish technology company building secure, AI-powered software used by businesses across international markets.

They're looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to join their engineering team as they continue to scale and modernise their platform.

This is a role for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving problems and working across a product rather than being boxed into one technology or area of the stack.

The environment includes Java, Spring, TypeScript, React, Angular and AWS. You don't need to have worked extensively with every technology they use, but strong commercial Java and Spring experience is essential.

Beyond the technology, they're particularly interested in engineers who can think through complex problems, challenge assumptions, learn unfamiliar technologies and take ownership of what they're building.

What you'll be doing

You'll work across a security-focused platform handling real-world customer and business data, taking problems from initial requirement through to production.

Your work will include:

  • Building and improving backend applications using Java and Spring
  • Developing and integrating REST APIs across backend and frontend systems
  • Working across modern JavaScript and TypeScript applications using React and Angular
  • Building and supporting scalable services within AWS
  • Improving existing architecture as the platform continues to evolve
  • Working with relational databases and optimising application performance
  • Investigating and troubleshooting production issues
  • Contributing to architectural and technical decisions
  • Using AI-assisted development tools as part of your engineering workflow
  • Participating in code reviews and supporting other engineers
  • Working closely with Product, QA and Engineering throughout the development lifecycle

What they're looking for

You'll ideally have 5+ years of commercial software development experience, with a strong background building production applications.

The strongest candidates will have:

  • Strong commercial Java and Spring experience
  • Commercial frontend experience with React, Angular or another modern framework
  • TypeScript and/or JavaScript experience
  • Experience designing and integrating REST APIs
  • Strong relational database knowledge
  • Commercial cloud experience, ideally AWS
  • Git and CI/CD experience
  • Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills
  • Experience taking ownership of features or technical problems through to production

You don't need to be an expert in every technology in the stack.

What matters is that you can demonstrate how you approach unfamiliar problems and technologies, how you make technical decisions and how you get from a problem to a working solution.

The type of engineer who will do well

This isn't an environment where every problem will arrive as a perfectly defined ticket with an obvious answer.

You'll be trusted to think.

They're looking for someone who:

  • Approaches complex problems in a structured way
  • Takes ownership and follows problems through to resolution
  • Is comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
  • Asks good questions and challenges assumptions
  • Can explain the reasoning behind technical decisions
  • Spots opportunities to improve products and processes
  • Learns unfamiliar technologies quickly
  • Works well with Engineering, Product and QA
  • Balances technical quality with the practical needs of the product and customer

Why join?

You'll be joining an established Irish technology business during an interesting period of engineering growth and modernisation.

Rather than simply maintaining an established codebase, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to how the platform evolves and how technical problems are solved.

The wider package includes:

  • €70,000-€80,000 salary
  • 28 days annual leave, increasing with tenure
  • Additional day off for your birthday
  • Two weeks working abroad each year
  • Wellness/gym contribution
  • Educational and certification support
  • Regular team lunches and company events
  • Hybrid working from Dublin
  • AI development licences and tooling provided

The preference remains for someone who can work regularly with the team in Dublin. However, there can be additional flexibility for particularly strong candidates based elsewhere in Ireland who are comfortable travelling to Dublin when required.

If you're a senior engineer with strong Java/Spring experience who enjoys solving difficult problems, working across the stack and having genuine ownership of what you build, I'd be keen to speak with you.
