Quantitative Engineer – C++ / TypeScript / AWS


Job Description

My client, a growing SaaS organisation, is seeking an experienced Quantitative Engineer to design and develop high-performance software solutions, quantitative models and scalable cloud-based applications.


Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain high-performance quantitative applications and services using C++.
  • Build and enhance modern application components and internal tooling using TypeScript.
  • Develop scalable, reliable and secure solutions within an AWS cloud environment.
  • Work closely with quantitative, product and engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Develop algorithms, models and data-driven functionality for use within production SaaS platforms.
  • Optimise existing applications for performance, scalability, latency and reliability.
  • Contribute to software architecture, technical design, code reviews and engineering best practices.
  • Support automated testing, deployment and monitoring processes across the software development lifecycle.


Experience Required

  • Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally within quantitative, financial technology, data-intensive or SaaS environments.
  • Strong commercial development experience with C++, including performance optimisation, data structures and object-oriented programming.
  • Professional experience developing applications or services using TypeScript and modern JavaScript technologies.
  • Strong experience working with AWS and building or supporting cloud-native production systems.
  • Experience designing scalable APIs, distributed applications or microservices-based architectures.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, numerical methods, data structures and software engineering principles.
  • Experience working with large or complex datasets and developing reliable data-processing solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in quantitative engineering, quantitative development or computational software development.
  • Experience with Python for modelling, analytics, prototyping or data processing.
  • Knowledge of financial modelling, optimisation techniques, statistical analysis or mathematical modelling.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB or CloudWatch.
  • Exposure to containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Previous experience developing commercial SaaS products within an Agile engineering environment.


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or third-level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification in a quantitative or technical subject would be advantageous but is not essential.
