Job Title: Senior Domain Name System Reliability Specialist

Location: United Arab Emirates (Remote)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Arrangement: 100% Remote — Work From Home

Level: Senior

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Domain Name System (DNS) Reliability Specialist to design, maintain, secure, and optimize enterprise DNS infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The successful candidate will ensure reliable name resolution, high service availability, resilient DNS architecture, and effective protection against DNS-related failures and security threats.

This role requires strong expertise in DNS architecture, authoritative and recursive name servers, traffic management, network troubleshooting, and infrastructure automation. You will collaborate with network engineering, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and application teams to minimize service disruptions, strengthen DNS security, and improve the reliability of business-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain resilient DNS architectures across enterprise data centers, cloud platforms, and distributed environments.
  • Administer authoritative and recursive DNS services, including primary and secondary zones, forwarders, caching resolvers, and delegation configurations.
  • Monitor DNS availability, query latency, resolution failures, response accuracy, and service capacity to identify reliability risks.
  • Configure and maintain DNS records, including A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, PTR, and appropriate service-discovery records.
  • Implement high-availability configurations, redundant name servers, geographic distribution, and failover strategies for critical DNS services.
  • Troubleshoot DNS resolution failures, propagation issues, incorrect delegations, zone transfer problems, caching inconsistencies, and timeout conditions.
  • Optimize DNS performance through caching policies, query analysis, resolver tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Implement DNS security controls, including DNSSEC validation and signing where applicable, access restrictions, secure zone transfers, and response-policy mechanisms.
  • Investigate DNS-related security incidents, including suspicious query patterns, cache-poisoning risks, unauthorized changes, and potential DNS tunneling.
  • Manage DNS changes through controlled deployment processes, configuration reviews, validation checks, and rollback procedures.
  • Integrate DNS services with cloud networking, load balancing, content delivery networks, identity systems, and application infrastructure.
  • Automate DNS provisioning, configuration validation, record auditing, health checks, and operational reporting using scripts and APIs.
  • Maintain DNS monitoring, alerting, logging, and integration with centralized observability and security monitoring platforms.
  • Conduct resilience testing, failover exercises, disaster recovery assessments, and root-cause analysis following DNS incidents.
  • Maintain accurate zone inventories, architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, change records, and recovery documentation.
  • Coordinate with domain registrars, DNS service providers, and internal teams to resolve complex issues and manage infrastructure changes.
  • Establish service-level objectives and reliability metrics for DNS services supporting critical applications.
  • Recommend improvements to DNS architecture, security posture, automation, and operational resilience.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant experience in DNS administration, network engineering, infrastructure reliability, or enterprise systems operations.
  • Strong understanding of DNS protocols, record types, zone delegation, recursive resolution, authoritative services, caching, and zone transfers.
  • Practical experience with DNS platforms such as BIND, Microsoft DNS, Unbound, PowerDNS, Infoblox, or comparable enterprise solutions.
  • Familiarity with cloud DNS services, including Amazon Route 53, Azure DNS, Google Cloud DNS, or equivalent platforms.
  • Knowledge of DNSSEC, secure zone management, access control, and DNS-related security threats.
  • Experience troubleshooting network connectivity, routing, firewall policies, packet captures, and DNS protocol behavior.
  • Proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell and experience using APIs for infrastructure automation.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as dig, nslookup, tcpdump, Wireshark, and DNS analytics platforms.
  • Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, load balancing, and service-level objectives.
  • Experience with configuration management, infrastructure as code, and version-controlled change workflows is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and incident management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities in distributed technical environments.
  • Relevant certifications in networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, or DNS administration are advantageous.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • DNS Availability: Maintain high availability for critical name resolution services.
  • Resolution Performance: Meet defined targets for query latency and successful DNS responses.
  • Incident Reduction: Reduce recurring DNS failures and prevent avoidable service disruptions.
  • Recovery Performance: Restore DNS services within approved recovery objectives.
  • Change Reliability: Minimize incidents resulting from DNS configuration changes.
  • Security Compliance: Maintain approved DNS security controls and resolve identified vulnerabilities.
  • Automation Coverage: Increase the proportion of DNS administration and validation tasks performed automatically.
  • Documentation Accuracy: Maintain complete, current DNS inventories and operational procedures.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation based on qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Fully remote work-from-home arrangements.
  • Opportunities to manage enterprise DNS infrastructure across complex hybrid and cloud environments.
  • Professional development in network reliability, cloud networking, DNS security, and infrastructure automation.
How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit an updated CV highlighting their experience in DNS architecture, reliability engineering, network troubleshooting, security controls, and automation.

Please include examples of complex DNS incidents resolved, high-availability improvements implemented, and automation initiatives that strengthened service reliability.
