The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Employment Relations Specialist to manage employee relations matters, advise managers on workplace issues, support the resolution of employment disputes, and strengthen employment practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in employee relations, workplace investigations, grievance management, disciplinary procedures, conflict resolution, employment policy implementation, and labor compliance.

This role will focus on promoting fair, consistent, and legally compliant employment practices while helping resolve workplace concerns and reduce employee relations risks. The Senior Employment Relations Specialist will collaborate with Human Resources, Legal, Payroll, Project Management, Construction, HSE, department managers, employees, and senior leadership to address employment matters professionally and confidentially, in accordance with applicable United Arab Emirates laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage employee relations matters across corporate functions, construction projects, and operational teams.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on workplace policies, employment procedures, employee conduct, and organizational expectations.
  • Support the consistent application of employment policies, disciplinary standards, grievance procedures, and employee relations practices.
  • Advise managers on appropriate responses to employee concerns, workplace conflicts, performance issues, and conduct-related matters.
  • Receive, assess, document, and coordinate responses to employee grievances, complaints, and workplace concerns.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of employee relations cases to determine the appropriate review, investigation, or escalation process.
  • Coordinate workplace investigations involving alleged misconduct, policy violations, interpersonal conflicts, or other employment-related concerns.
  • Develop investigation plans, identify relevant evidence, conduct or coordinate interviews, and maintain accurate investigation records.
  • Ensure that investigations are handled objectively, confidentially, and consistently with established procedures.
  • Prepare investigation summaries, findings reports, and recommendations for review by authorized decision-makers.
  • Escalate allegations involving serious misconduct, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, fraud, or potential legal violations to the appropriate teams.
  • Work with Legal and senior HR representatives on sensitive or complex employee relations cases.
  • Support the fair and consistent administration of disciplinary procedures in accordance with company policies and applicable legal requirements.
  • Review disciplinary documentation for completeness, factual accuracy, procedural consistency, and appropriate approvals.
  • Coordinate disciplinary meetings, employee responses, outcome communications, and follow-up actions.
  • Advise managers on performance-related employment concerns and appropriate documentation practices.
  • Support the resolution of workplace disputes through constructive communication, facilitated discussions, mediation, and other appropriate approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to resolve employee concerns early and prevent avoidable escalation.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with employees and managers throughout the employee relations process.
  • Assist with the interpretation and implementation of employment policies, employee handbooks, workplace standards, and internal procedures.
  • Review existing employee relations policies and recommend updates to improve clarity, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure that employment-related procedures reflect applicable UAE labor requirements and relevant organizational policies.
  • Coordinate with Legal to assess employment-related risks and clarify issues requiring formal legal interpretation.
  • Monitor relevant changes in employment legislation and regulatory guidance that may affect employee relations practices.
  • Communicate policy and procedural updates to HR colleagues, managers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the development of manager guidance materials covering grievance handling, disciplinary processes, workplace conduct, and employee communication.
  • Deliver training sessions to managers and employees on respectful workplace behavior, conflict management, employee rights, and organizational policies.
  • Promote a workplace culture that encourages respectful communication, accountability, fairness, and professional conduct.
  • Support the prevention and appropriate handling of workplace bullying, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation concerns.
  • Ensure that complaints involving sensitive personal matters are managed discreetly and referred to appropriate specialists where necessary.
  • Monitor recurring workplace concerns and identify potential systemic issues affecting employee engagement or organizational performance.
  • Analyze employee relations trends to identify patterns in grievances, disciplinary actions, turnover, absenteeism, and workplace conflicts.
  • Prepare recommendations to address underlying causes of recurring employment issues.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and department leaders to improve employee engagement, communication, and workplace cooperation.
  • Support organizational change initiatives that may affect reporting structures, roles, working arrangements, or employee expectations.
  • Help managers communicate workplace changes clearly and respond constructively to employee questions and concerns.
  • Coordinate employee relations support during restructures, departmental reorganizations, project transitions, and workforce changes.
  • Support fair and consistent processes relating to attendance concerns, leave disputes, workplace behavior, and compliance with employment procedures.
  • Collaborate with Payroll and HR Operations to investigate employment-related discrepancies involving compensation, deductions, benefits, or employee records.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve concerns regarding employment documentation, job responsibilities, working arrangements, and administrative processes.
  • Support the management of employee relations matters involving contractors, project personnel, and other workforce groups within the organization's authorized scope.
  • Work with Construction and Project Management teams to address workforce concerns that may affect site operations, project continuity, or team effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with HSE where employee conduct or workplace disputes intersect with safety procedures, incident reporting, or site requirements.
  • Help managers address interpersonal conflicts and team relationship issues before they affect operational delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of grievances, investigations, disciplinary matters, resolutions, and management decisions.
  • Ensure that case files contain relevant correspondence, interview notes, evidence records, approvals, outcome letters, and follow-up documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and restrict access to sensitive employee relations records to authorized personnel.
  • Ensure that employee information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements, data protection standards, and internal records management policies.
  • Maintain appropriate document retention and case closure procedures for employment relations matters.
  • Monitor the progress of open cases and ensure that investigations, responses, and corrective actions are completed within established timelines.
  • Establish case tracking procedures and escalation reminders to prevent unnecessary delays.
