This role serves as a senior technical resource for application architecture, integrations, workflow automation, databases, and related Windows Server-based components, ensuring secure, reliable, scalable, and efficient business operations.

The ideal candidate combines advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with substantial experience supporting enterprise applications in a professional services environment. Success in this role requires independent technical judgment and excellent analytical skills, ownership of complex initiatives from requirements through implementation and operational handoff, and the ability to guide technical colleagues. The Senior Enterprise Applications Engineer partners with business stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to evaluate solution options, communicate risks and dependencies, deliver enhancements, and resolve complex issues.

Reporting Structure:

The Senior Enterprise Applications Engineer will report directly to the Senior Manager of Enterprise Applications and Endpoint Engineering.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own the hands-on implementation, support, and optimization of enterprise applications, integrations, and automation solutions to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Lead requirements discovery with business stakeholders, translate business needs into technical designs, and evaluate solution options, risks, and dependencies.
  • Lead application-specific database troubleshooting and vendor coordination, partnering with third-party database support providers on SQL Server reliability, performance, security, and availability.
  • Design, develop, and support complex SQL-based data solutions, integrations, and automation workflows, ensuring data integrity, maintainability, business process efficiency, and secure information exchange across enterprise systems.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot application components hosted on Windows Server, including IIS-hosted applications, integrations, and scheduled processes. Partner with infrastructure teams and vendors on dependencies, performance, reliability, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex application, integration, and automation issues. Coordinate with vendors, business stakeholders, and IT teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Lead and directly implement application patches, upgrades, integrations, and platform changes, including impact assessments, testing, deployment and rollback planning, and operational handoff. Follow change management standards and minimize business disruption.
  • Develop and maintain proactive monitoring, alerting, and operational controls for applications, integrations, automation workflows, and scheduled processes to support timely detection and response.
  • Develop and maintain technical designs, support procedures, troubleshooting documentation, and reusable guidance covering engineering practices, change management, escalation, and operational handoffs.
  • Provide technical and procedural guidance to applications engineers through hands-on coaching, paired troubleshooting, technical peer reviews, process walkthroughs, and knowledge sharing. Strengthen independent problem-solving and consistent adherence to established practices.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering teams to maintain compliance with security standards and support the secure, reliable operation of enterprise applications.

Position Specific Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience administering, supporting, and engineering enterprise applications and related SQL Server environments.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS packages, query analysis, stored procedures, and complex application database troubleshooting, including performance and operational issue resolution.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Agent, scheduled jobs, application services, and systems integrations, including database connectivity, authentication, permissions, certificates, and cross-system dependencies.
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading and implementing complex application projects and upgrades in accordance with established change management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical vendor engagements, evaluating recommendations, and driving complex issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach engineers, explain technical decisions, and reinforce established processes and procedures.
  • Experience with Power Automate or similar workflow automation tools is preferred, including approvals, notifications, data movement, and operational workflows.
  • PowerShell or other scripting experience is a plus, particularly for automation, monitoring, job validation, Windows Server administration, and application support.

Education and General Requirements:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadlines.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Attendance Requirements:
    • Hybrid schedule (minimum of 3 days per week in-person in the NY Office); work on-site or remotely in accordance with Firm policies, with availability outside normal working hours.
    • Expected to carry a company approved mobile device and respond when necessary.
  • Travel Requirements:
