Senior Financial Controller – GL Improvement & Projects

About the role

As the Group grows, our GL organization is getting bigger and more complex. Local GL Managers stay responsible for their countries and teams. But some issues cut across borders or need extra experienced hands.

You'll step in on difficult finance issues, work out why they happened, and make sure each one ends with a lasting fix and a clear owner. You'll work directly with reconciliations, data and transactions when that's the fastest route to an answer.

What you'll do

• Get hands-on: take ownership of selected accounting, reconciliation, close or process issues. Find the root cause and escalate material risks early.

• Strengthen GL quality: run sample reviews of reconciliations and key controls with local teams. Spread good practice and help set practical minimum standards.

• Improve processes: simplify and standardize GL processes across countries, while respecting real local needs.

• Lead cross-country projects: take on investigations that don't sit with one country team. Bring clear findings and recommendations, and see them through.

• Help GL scale: spot patterns behind recurring problems and help decide who should own the fix.

Who you are

• You have solid experience in external audit, financial controlling, accounting or a similar finance role.

• You know GL accounting, balance sheets, month-end close and reconciliations well.

• You can trace reported balances back to transactions and documents.

• You're strong in Excel and data analysis, and comfortable with ERP systems.

• You've worked with many stakeholders without formal authority.

• You have professional-level English.

• Experience across several entities or countries is a plus.

How the role works

• You work with GL Managers, Financial Controllers and other Group Finance functions.

• Part of your time stays flexible for emerging priorities.

• Most problems end one of three ways: solve once, solve and hand back, or own as a recurring responsibility.

• This isn't a deputy role. You have no line authority over GL Managers, who keep their local priorities. Disagreements go to the Director of Group Finance.

What success looks like

• Complex issues get solved without the Director stepping into the detail.

• Reconciliation quality and ways of working are more consistent across countries.

• Recurring problems get root-cause fixes and clearer ownership.

• Improvement ideas turn into practical action.
