Senior FP&A / Finance Business Partner – Strategy & Commercial Finance
Salary: Up to €90,000 base + bonus
Location: Dublin 24
Working arrangement: 4 days onsite / 1 day working from home
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially focused Senior FP&A / Finance Business Partner to join a growing, private equity-backed international business operating within the engineering and manufacturing sector.
The business is investing significantly in its Finance and FP&A capability as it enters its next phase of growth. With ongoing international expansion and acquisition activity, this is a high-profile role that will work closely with the CFO, senior leadership team and wider commercial and operational functions.
This is a commercially focused FP&A role with limited emphasis on traditional financial reporting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in turning complex financial and operational data into meaningful insight, challenging assumptions and helping senior management make better-informed decisions.
The Role
Working as part of an evolving FP&A and commercial finance function, you will take ownership of a broad range of commercially focused and strategic initiatives, including:
- Partnering with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Operations and Finance
- Providing commercial insight around revenue performance, pricing and profitability
- Analysing manufacturing margins and identifying key business performance drivers
- Supporting annual budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
- Contributing to the development and ongoing refinement of the five-year business and value creation plan
- Building financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Working with large volumes of financial and operational data and translating findings into clear commercial recommendations
- Producing high-quality presentations and management information for the CFO, CEO and senior leadership team
- Challenging commercial assumptions and investigating underlying business performance drivers
- Supporting business cases, investment analysis and key strategic initiatives
- Supporting M&A and integration activity where required, including acquisition modelling, due diligence support and post-acquisition performance tracking
- Monitoring acquisition performance, synergies and wider value creation initiatives
- Supporting ad hoc strategic projects driven by senior management and the private equity shareholder
The Person
This role would suit a highly analytical and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working beyond traditional reporting and accounting and who is comfortable operating closely with senior stakeholders.
You will ideally have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Commercial Finance
- Finance Business Partnering
- FP&A
- Strategic Finance
- Corporate Finance
- Transaction Advisory / Deals
- Strategy or Management Consulting
Previous industry-based commercial finance or FP&A experience would be particularly relevant.
You should also be able to demonstrate:
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and planning experience
- Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel capability
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen
- The ability to analyse complex datasets and identify what genuinely matters to the business
- Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills
- Experience preparing and presenting financial and commercial analysis to senior stakeholders
- The confidence to challenge assumptions and influence decision-making
- The ability to communicate complex information in a concise and commercially relevant way
- Strong stakeholder management skills across finance and non-finance functions
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving environment
Previous exposure to M&A, private equity-backed organisations, manufacturing, engineering or highly acquisitive businesses would be advantageous but is not essential.
A recognised accounting qualification would be advantageous, although strong commercial FP&A experience is of greater importance.
Ultimately, the role requires somebody who can move from data and analysis to insight, recommendation and action.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build on a strong commercial FP&A or Finance Business Partnering background while gaining broader exposure to strategy, M&A and private equity-backed value creation.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team and will have the opportunity to influence commercial performance, strategic planning and key business decisions as the organisation continues to grow internationally.
The role should particularly appeal to somebody who wants broader ownership and senior-level exposure than may be available within a larger or more structured finance function.
Salary: Up to €90,000 base, depending on experience
Bonus: Quarterly performance bonus structure, with an annual target
Working arrangement: 4 days onsite / 1 day working from home (**Please take this into consideration before applying**)
