NetBox Labs is hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to build the real-time monitoring and telemetry dashboards at the heart of our Observability products. This is a frontend-focused role for someone who loves React, thinks in data visualization, and works AI-first.
About NetBox Labs
NetBox Labs builds the next generation of network automation tools for modern infrastructure teams, with NetBox as the network source of truth at the center. The Observability team builds the products that connect that source of truth to what is actually running on the network:
NetBox Discovery finds devices, interfaces, and other network entities.
NetBox Assurance brings discovered data into NetBox and helps operators spot drift between intended and actual state, review changes, and decide what to accept.
Fleet Management and the Orb agent deploy, configure, and manage the agents that collect discovery and telemetry data from customer networks.
Diode is the ingestion pipeline that moves that data into NetBox reliably.
All of that data has to land somewhere operators can see it, understand it, and act on it in seconds. That is where you come in.
Role overview
You'll own the frontend of the Observability team's products end to end. Your core job is building fast, reliable, real-time dashboards that render high-frequency telemetry from thousands of devices without dropping frames or burying operators in noise.
That covers:
High-frequency telemetry dashboards where customers monitor network and device health live, with streaming time-series charts, heatmaps, and status views.
Drill-down experiences that take an operator from the whole fleet to a single device to a single interface in a few clicks.
Review and management interfaces for discovered data, drift between intended and actual state, and the agent fleet.
AI-powered features and workflows, both in the product and in how the team builds it.
You'll work closely with product, design, and the backend engineers who own the query and streaming APIs your dashboards depend on. This role is hands-on: you'll ship features, push rendering performance hard, and set the frontend architecture and practices that let our dashboards scale to large, complex customer networks.
What we're looking for (minimum qualifications)
Requirements
Must Have
5+ years of professional experience in frontend engineering, with a deep understanding of React and TypeScript in production environments.
Expertise with modern build tooling, particularly Vite, and experience configuring complex multi-application build systems.
Experience working on UI, with design systems and component libraries.
Solid understanding of state management patterns (Zustand, TanStack Query, Context API) in distributed frontend architectures.
Experience with CI/CD pipeline design for frontend applications, including automated versioning (semantic-release), artifact deployment, and monorepo workflows.
Proficiency with TailwindCSS (v4+) and utility-first CSS methodologies.
Experience with end-to-end testing using Playwright or similar frameworks, including accessibility testing (a11y, axe-core, WCAG compliance).
Comfortable working with monorepo structures (npm workspaces) and managing cross-package dependencies.
Practical, daily use of AI coding assistants and agents across the development lifecycle: writing and refactoring code, generating tests, reviewing changes, and writing documentation.
Nice to Have
Build type-safe integration with backend services using generated API clients from Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI, shared schemas, and consistent error and auth handling.
Micro-Frontend Architecture with hands-on experience implementing Module Federation (ideally Module Federation 2.0 with Vite).
Experience working with data visualization (Recharts, D3, Grafana etc).
Strong understanding of authentication and authorization patterns (Auth0/OAuth, RBAC) in single-page applications.
Experience working in product teams (e.g. in a SaaS environment).
Experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tooling.
Contributions to open-source projects or developer tooling.
Experience with performance optimization and Lighthouse CI budgets.
Familiarity with network infrastructure concepts (IP addressing, device management, SNMP/network discovery).
Ways of working
Good communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively in small, cross-functional teams.
Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and contributing to product, design, and technical decisions.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, customer-facing teams, and other engineering teams so features solve real network operator problems.
Review code, mentor teammates, and share best practices for frontend engineering and data visualization.
Participate in planning and help shape the roadmap.
Why join NetBox Labs
You'll own the dashboards network operators rely on to see what is actually happening on their networks, in real time.
Hard, interesting frontend problems: streaming data at scale, rendering performance, and turning dense telemetry into clear decisions.
An AI-first engineering culture where you'll help define how the team builds with AI tools and ships AI-powered features.
A small, talented engineering team where your decisions have high impact, with room to mentor others and shape frontend practices.
Competitive compensation and benefits.
Flexible and remote work policy.
