Senior Frontend Engineer – UI/UX Design & Product Experience
About SUPERWISE Chat
SUPERWISE Chat is an enterprise, multi-tenant generative AI platform combining conversational AI, governance, persistent memory, knowledge management, enterprise data connectivity, and policy enforcement.
The product serves users in complex enterprise environments where permissions, data boundaries, explainability, errors, long-running operations, and administrative controls are integral to the user experience.
Our frontend stack includes Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and modern component systems, integrated with backend APIs and realtime technologies.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer with strong UI/UX design skills and a product-oriented mindset. You will take user and business requirements, translate them into clear workflows and high-quality interface designs, and implement those designs as polished, accessible, production-ready experiences in SUPERWISE Chat.
This is a hands-on role spanning discovery, wireframes, prototypes, visual design, design systems, frontend architecture, implementation, testing, and iteration based on feedback. You should be comfortable owning a feature from an initial idea through design and frontend delivery, collaborating with product, backend, and QA teammates.
What You Will Own
- Translate product requirements and user problems into user flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
- Use Figma to create and maintain design files, reusable components, interaction specifications, and handoff documentation.
- Design and build sophisticated product experiences using React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Create consistent, reusable frontend components and contribute to a maintainable design system, including patterns, tokens, typography, spacing, and responsive behavior.
- Own complex workflows across conversations, workspaces, channels, knowledge, documents, permissions, administration, governance, and configuration.
- Design complete interaction states, including loading, streaming, empty states, partial completion, errors, retries, permission restrictions, degraded services, and long-running operations.
- Create clear conversational AI interfaces for citations, sources, tool execution, attachments, generated artifacts, guardrail interventions, and escalations.
- Make complex AI and enterprise platform behavior understandable by helping users see what happened, what information was used, what failed, and what they can do next.
- Build responsive experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile viewports, with attention to accessibility and cross-browser consistency.
- Integrate REST APIs and realtime updates, and collaborate with backend engineers on API contracts and user-facing error behavior.
- Improve frontend performance, usability, consistency, and maintainability through code reviews, refactoring, and appropriate testing.
- Validate designs and implementations through prototypes, usability feedback, visual inspection, automated tests, and browser behavior.
- Collaborate with product stakeholders, engineers, and QA to clarify requirements, identify edge cases early, and deliver complete user workflows.
Design & UX Responsibilities
- Apply user-centered design principles to turn complex requirements into intuitive, efficient workflows.
- Identify usability gaps and recommend improvements based on user feedback, product context, and observed behavior.
- Maintain visual consistency and interaction patterns across the product rather than designing isolated screens.
- Balance visual quality with accessibility, usability, technical feasibility, and delivery timelines.
- Document design decisions, interaction behavior, responsive rules, and edge cases clearly enough for implementation and QA.
- Work iteratively: share early concepts, incorporate feedback, and refine designs before and after implementation.
Agentic Engineering Is Part of the Job
- Use modern AI-assisted and agentic coding tools as part of the normal design-to-development workflow.
- Turn product intent, user flows, and design specifications into structured implementation tasks.
- Use coding agents to accelerate frontend implementation, testing, refactoring, and documentation while retaining ownership of the result.
- Review generated UI and code critically; do not accept output solely because it renders or passes a basic test.
- Validate generated interfaces against the intended design, responsive behavior, accessibility, usability, and maintainability.
- Understand and be able to debug, explain, and modify the code delivered with AI assistance.
Required Experience
- 7+ years of professional frontend development experience, with substantial production experience in React and TypeScript.
- Strong experience with Next.js or a comparable modern React framework.
- Hands-on UI/UX design experience, including user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity interface design in Figma.
- A portfolio demonstrating both implemented frontend work and design judgment; candidates should be able to explain the problem, design choices, trade-offs, and outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive layouts, JavaScript/TypeScript, and reusable component architecture.
- Experience building complex SaaS or enterprise product interfaces, not only static websites or marketing pages.
- Understanding of design systems, component libraries, visual hierarchy, typography, spacing, and interaction patterns.
- Experience integrating REST APIs and handling asynchronous states, validation, loading, errors, and permissions in the UI.
- Understanding of accessibility fundamentals and cross-browser testing.
- Experience with Git-based collaboration, code review, and frontend testing.
- Demonstrated use of AI-assisted coding tools for meaningful software-development tasks, with the ability to explain and validate the resulting code.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work from ambiguous requirements with product and engineering teammates.
Preferred Experience
- Experience designing and building generative AI, conversational AI, analytics, or other data-rich interfaces.
- Familiarity with streaming AI responses, citations, source presentation, attachments, tool execution, and rich-content rendering.
- Tailwind CSS and component systems such as Radix UI or similar headless libraries.
- Experience establishing or evolving a product design system and component library.
- Knowledge of React Server Components and Next.js App Router patterns.
- Experience with usability testing, accessibility standards, and design handoff practices.
- Experience with prototyping and collaboration tools beyond Figma where useful.
- Familiarity with realtime applications using SSE, Socket.io, or comparable technologies.
- Working knowledge of REST API design and backend concepts sufficient to collaborate effectively with backend engineers.
- Experience in enterprise RBAC, governance, audit, administration, or complex subscription workflows.
- Familiarity with Vitest, Testing Library, Playwright, or comparable frontend testing tools.
Technology Environment
- Frontend: Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, JavaScript, Tailwind CSS 4, Radix UI
- Design: Figma, wireframes, prototypes, design systems, responsive design
- Integration: REST APIs, SSE, Socket.io
- Testing: Vitest, Testing Library, Playwright
- Platform context: Enterprise SaaS, conversational AI, knowledge management, governance, permissions, guardrails
Exact prior experience with every technology is not required. We value strong frontend and design fundamentals, sound product judgment, and the ability to become productive quickly in adjacent technologies.
What Strong Performance Looks Like
- Independently take a user problem from requirements to a validated design and a production-ready frontend implementation.
- Produce intuitive workflows and interfaces that make complex enterprise and AI functionality easier to understand and operate.
- Maintain consistency across the product through reusable design patterns and components.
- Anticipate responsive behavior, accessibility, permissions, loading and failure states before they become QA findings.
- Use feedback and testing to improve the experience rather than treating design as a one-time handoff.
- Use AI-assisted development to increase delivery speed without compromising design quality, usability, or maintainability.
- Collaborate effectively with backend engineers and QA while owning frontend and design outcomes.
What We Value
- Product judgment: Care whether users can understand and successfully operate the product, not simply whether a screen looks attractive.
- Design-to-code ownership: Connect UX decisions to robust frontend implementation and follow through to production.
- User empathy: Understand user goals, reduce friction, and make complex workflows approachable.
- Craft and consistency: Pay attention to detail while building reusable patterns that scale across the product.
- Agentic leverage: Use AI tools to accelerate strong design and engineering judgment, not replace it.
- Collaboration and candor: Explain design and implementation decisions clearly, incorporate feedback, and surface uncertainty early.
