About Us
Australian Ethical is one of Australia’s fastest-growing super fund and ethical investment managers. We are ASX-listed with over $14 billion in funds under management and offer a selection of award-winning managed funds and superannuation products.
Our purpose is to invest for a better world, and we have been pioneers in this space for almost 40 years. For us, investing has two aims – generating solid financial returns and a positive impact for people, planet, and animals. At Australian Ethical, we prove that money can be a force for good. We do this by staying true to our purpose, which is embedded throughout our organisation and drives our everyday activities as a business, investor, brand, employer, and corporate citizen. We’re a registered B Corp and fully committed to an inclusive, equitable and forward-thinking workplace culture.

Your new role:

As Senior Fund Accountant – Superannuation, you’ll support financial reporting, tax, accounting and regulatory requirements across our superannuation operations, with a particular focus on APRA reporting. Reporting to the Fund Accounting Manager, you’ll work closely with internal teams, fund administrators and custodians to oversee critical accounting processes, strengthen controls and support business improvements and regulatory change. The role also offers exposure to our Managed Funds products and broader finance operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review and lodge APRA reporting, respond to queries and implement new reporting standards.
  • Review tax statements and annual provisions, ensuring accuracy and timely lodgement.
  • Oversee administrator and custodian reporting, reconciling management accounts, tax calculations and third-party data.
  • Manage year-end financial reporting, including financial statements, disclosures and supporting Board papers.
  • Partner with administrators and custodians to deliver fund accounting, audit and regulatory requirements within agreed service levels.
  • Oversee daily unit pricing, tax reconciliations and true-ups, and calculate investment performance returns.
  • Coordinate daily cashflows, fee calculations and payments.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen controls, supporting regulatory change, new products, PDS updates and RG 97 compliance.

What we’re looking for:

You’re an experienced superannuation fund accounting professional with hands-on APRA reporting experience, strong technical knowledge, sound judgement and a practical approach to solving problems. You bring a curious mindset and a willingness to dig into the detail, along with strong organisation, planning and prioritisation skills to manage competing reporting deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You’re comfortable taking ownership and building effective relationships with internal teams and outsourced providers.

We welcome applications from candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne

If you bring the following, we’d love to hear from you:

  • A degree in Business or Accounting and a CA or CPA qualification.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in superannuation fund accounting and unit pricing, gained within a superannuation fund, custodian, fund administrator or audit firm servicing superannuation clients.
  • Hands-on APRA reporting experience for superannuation funds and the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of superannuation tax, financial statement preparation, investment markets and the broader finance industry.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a risk mindset, with confidence to challenge and resolve issues.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, including working with outsourced providers and explaining complex financial information.
  • Experience driving process improvements and regulatory change, working independently and within a small team.
  • Alignment with and demonstration of our values of Action, Authenticity, Empathy, Curiosity and Connection.

What’s in it for you

  • A competitive salary, including short-term and long-term incentives including access to an Employee Share Plan
  • Hybrid work arrangements
  • Wellbeing program that includes an extra 4 days of leave per year
  • Birthday leave
  • Purpose aligned volunteer days
  • 20 days paid annual leave with an additional 3 paid days of annual leave between Christmas and New Year
