About gekko
gekko | applied drilling intelligence is a cloud-based data and project management platform that helps technical teams reduce risk, seize opportunities and improve performance in drilling and subsurface operations. We combine robust data management, collaboration and analytics to support integrated workflows across exploration and development projects.
About the role
We're looking for a highly experienced Senior Geophysicist to lead seismic interpretation and subsurface integration across exploration and development projects. You'll bring 15–20 years of experience working with 2D and 3D seismic data in structurally complex settings, and turn geophysical insight into sound development decisions.
Location: Pune, India or Dubai, UAE (hybrid/remote working considered)
Job type: Full-time or part-time
What you'll do
- Perform advanced 2D/3D seismic interpretation to support prospect evaluation and well planning
- Integrate seismic with well logs, geology and production data to refine structural and stratigraphic models
- Identify leads and mature prospects through risked volumetrics and technical evaluation
- Work closely with geologists and engineers to optimise well targeting and reduce drilling risk
- Carry out seismic attribute analysis and inversion studies where appropriate
- Contribute to reserves/resource reporting and new venture screening
- Support licensing rounds, farm-out technical presentations and partner engagements
- Provide geophysical input into development planning, re-entry decisions and well placement
What you'll bring
- 15–20 years of geophysics experience in upstream oil and gas
- Bachelor's or Master's in Geophysics, Earth Sciences or a related discipline
- Proficiency in seismic interpretation software (Petrel, Kingdom, Landmark, etc.)
- Strong grasp of velocity modelling, depth conversion and seismic QC
- A track record of contributing to successful drilling campaigns and development wells
Nice to have
- Experience in fold-thrust belts or other complex geological settings
- Familiarity with AVO/inversion workflows and geophysical de-risking
- New venture screening and data room evaluation experience
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in multi-disciplinary teams
Occasional travel to project sites and partner offices may be required.
