Lumen is the trusted network for the AI‑powered world, connecting people, data, and applications through our expansive fiber network and connected ecosystem. We enable secure, high‑performance connectivity across cloud, edge, and AI workloads for enterprises, governments, and communities.

At Lumen, you’ll work on infrastructure customers rely on today and build for what’s next, where performance, security, and resilience matter.

This is a high accountability environment where bold ideas drive real innovation for our customers, partners, and industry. The work is challenging, expectations are clear, and trust is built into how we operate. If you’re ready to take ownership, deliver meaningful impact, and help shape the future of AI‑ready connectivity, join us today.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Lead Technical Marketing Manager to shape how Lumen brings its cybersecurity capabilities to market. This role translates complex security technologies, architectures, and threat intelligence into credible technical narratives, demonstrable solutions, seller-ready guidance, and customer experiences that accelerate adoption and revenue.

As a senior individual contributor, you will consult on and lead initiatives in partnership with many functions—Product Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, Partners, and our threat research team, Black Lotus Labs. You will own high-impact technical marketing programs across the cybersecurity portfolio and influence product and go-to-market decisions through customer insight, market evidence, technical depth, and commercial judgment.

Location and Schedule

This is a work-from-home position in the United States. Occasional travel is expected for customer engagements, industry events, demonstrations, sales enablement, and team planning sessions.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Own the technical marketing strategy: Define and execute technical marketing priorities for Lumen cybersecurity solutions, connecting portfolio strategy to customer use cases, architectures, adoption motions, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Create differentiated technical positioning: Develop clear, defensible messaging and value propositions for technical buyers and practitioners, including CISOs, security architects, SOC leaders, network leaders, and cloud security teams.
  • Build solution narratives and architectures: Translate cybersecurity capabilities into end-to-end reference architectures, validated use cases, solution blueprints, integration patterns, and deployment guidance across network, cloud, edge, and security operations environments.
  • Demonstrate the technology: Design and deliver compelling product demonstrations, technical workshops, webinars, videos, labs, and proof-of-value experiences that show how Lumen and its partners solve priority customer problems.
  • Lead technical content development: Create and govern high-value assets such as white papers, technical briefs, solution guides, blogs, FAQs, architecture diagrams, competitive guides, and technical launch materials.
  • Enable sellers and technical teams: Develop role-based training, discovery guidance, objection handling, battlecards, demo scripts, technical FAQs, and field playbooks that improve seller confidence, solution quality, and conversion.
  • Launch and support growth motions: Serve as the technical marketing lead for attach, cross-sell, and expansion motions. Ensure product, marketing, sales, and partner readiness before market activation.
  • Bring market and customer insight into decisions: Use customer conversations, competitive intelligence, analyst research, win-loss findings, field feedback, and performance data to identify gaps and recommend changes to product strategy, positioning, packaging, and activation.
  • Advance partner-led solutions: Collaborate with strategic cybersecurity partners to create integrated technical narratives, validated architectures, joint demonstrations, content, enablement, and go-to-market programs.
  • Represent Lumen as a technical authority: Engage customers, analysts, partners, and industry audiences as a cybersecurity subject-matter expert while maintaining accurate, evidence-based, and brand-safe claims.
  • Drive cross-functional execution: Lead complex workstreams without direct authority, establish clear outcomes and ownership, resolve dependencies, and create repeatable methods that improve the quality and speed of technical marketing execution.
  • Measure and optimize impact: Define success metrics and use adoption, pipeline, content, enablement, demonstration, and customer-feedback data to improve programs and prioritize investment.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, engineering, marketing, business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree or relevant security certifications are a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in technical marketing, product marketing, product management, solutions engineering, technical pre-sales, cybersecurity consulting, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated cybersecurity depth across several domains such as network security, DDoS mitigation, SASE/SSE, firewalls, cloud security, threat intelligence, or security operations (SIEM/XDR/MDR).
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking, cloud and hybrid architectures, security controls, telemetry, APIs, integrations, and operational workflows.
  • Proven ability to convert complex technical capabilities into clear customer value, differentiated positioning, credible proof points, and actionable field guidance.
  • Experience creating technical demonstrations, reference architectures, workshops, white papers, solution guides, or comparable practitioner-focused content.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively from hands-on practitioners through executive audiences.
  • Ability to lead complex, ambiguous initiatives across multiple functions without direct authority, while maintaining clear decisions, accountability, and momentum.
  • Commercial and analytical judgment, including the ability to connect technical marketing investments to adoption, pipeline, revenue, attach, retention, or expansion outcomes.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with multiple priorities, high visibility, and a strong expectation for quality and execution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience marketing managed security, network-embedded security, threat intelligence, or integrated networking and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Experience working with global telecommunications, cloud, networking, or managed security providers and their technology ecosystems.
  • Hands-on familiarity with security platforms, product labs, demonstration environments, scripting, APIs, or data visualization.
  • Established credibility with customers, analysts, technical communities, or industry events through presentations, publications, workshops, or thought leadership.
