About us

splose is the AI-powered practice management platform powering better health care. Trusted by over 25,000+ Allied Health professionals around the world, splose is purpose-built to free clinicians from admin and let them focus on what matters most - helping people. Backed by leading VC funds EVP, Spectrum Equity, and Athletic Ventures we have recently announced a record-breaking $46M Series A raise - the largest Series A of any South Australian SaaS company ever. We’re growing fast and investing in our product, our people, and our global growth.

About you

You’re a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys working at the intersection of law, technology and business. You know how to balance protecting a business with helping it move forward, and you’re comfortable providing practical advice in a fast-moving environment where not every situation has a precedent.

You’re confident working autonomously, setting priorities and taking ownership of a broad legal portfolio. You can move between negotiating a complex enterprise agreement, advising on privacy and regulatory requirements, partnering with Product on emerging AI capabilities and helping executive leaders navigate commercial decisions.

You enjoy building things, improving processes and creating practical frameworks that allow a business to scale. You're not looking to simply review contracts or identify risks. You want to influence decisions, solve problems and help shape the way a growing technology business operates.

As the first dedicated senior legal resource, you'll be comfortable being an army of one, while knowing when to bring in specialist expertise and when to escalate.

What you'll do

You'll own and lead the legal function at splose, acting as a trusted adviser to our Executive Leaders and the wider leadership team. You'll build the legal frameworks, processes and commercial foundations needed to support our growth across Australia, the UK and future international markets.

Your work will span:

  • Commercial contracts and partnerships: Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of SaaS agreements, enterprise contracts, software licensing, partner integrations, procurement agreements and data processing agreements. Build contract templates, playbooks and approval processes that help our commercial teams move quickly and confidently.

  • Health regulation and AI governance: Guide the business through healthcare and technology regulations, including relevant obligations across Australia and the UK. Partner with Product, Engineering and AI/ML teams on responsible AI governance, product compliance, transparency and clinical risk.

  • Privacy and data protection: Oversee our privacy and data protection frameworks across the jurisdictions in which we operate. Advise on privacy assessments, data access requests, potential data breaches, security audits and evolving privacy obligations.

  • Corporate governance and intellectual property: Protect and manage our IP portfolio, support corporate governance and cross-border arrangements, and provide legal guidance on strategic partnerships, fundraising, acquisitions and other corporate transactions.

  • Legal risk and compliance: Establish and maintain a practical approach to identifying, managing and monitoring legal and regulatory obligations. Keep across legislative changes, advise on consumer and marketing regulations, and ensure material compliance issues are appropriately managed and escalated.

  • Legal strategy and leadership: Set the direction and priorities for the legal function. Partner with executive leaders to anticipate risks, provide clear commercial recommendations and build scalable legal processes that support the business as it grows. Manage external legal advisers and budgets where specialist expertise is needed.

What you'll bring

  • A Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws or equivalent qualification, with admission to practise law in Australia.

  • At least 8 years' post-qualification experience across private practice and in-house legal roles.

  • Significant in-house experience in a technology, SaaS, HealthTech or MedTech business, ideally in a growing or multi-jurisdictional organisation.

  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating SaaS agreements, enterprise software contracts, service-level agreements and IP licensing arrangements.

  • A solid understanding of Australian privacy, healthcare and technology regulation, with experience navigating international regulatory requirements.

  • Experience advising on commercial, corporate, intellectual property and regulatory matters.

  • The ability to assess legal and commercial risks, provide clear recommendations and know when an issue needs to be escalated.

  • Confidence working directly with senior leaders and influencing decisions across Product, Engineering, Commercial and other business teams.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, including experience managing external legal advisers and engaging with regulators.

  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and bring structure to a broad and varied portfolio.

Most importantly, you're pragmatic, curious and solutions-focused. You understand that good legal advice isn't just about explaining why something can't be done. It's about finding a sensible way to make it work while managing the risks.

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience working with healthcare providers, allied health, clinical software or digital health platforms.

  • Exposure to UK GDPR, EU GDPR, international data protection frameworks or other overseas privacy regimes.

  • Experience advising on AI governance, machine learning, algorithmic transparency or emerging technology regulation.

  • Familiarity with My Health Record, AHPRA requirements, TGA digital health guidance or comparable healthcare regulatory frameworks.

  • Experience supporting international expansion, cross-border corporate structures, fundraising or M&A activity.

  • Experience establishing a legal function, building contract playbooks or developing governance frameworks in a scaling business.

  • An interest in using AI and modern technology tools to improve legal workflows and make legal support more accessible across the business.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of the legal function in a growing technology business. You'll work closely with our Executive Leaders, partner with teams across the organisation and have the autonomy to shape how we approach legal, regulatory and commercial matters as we continue to grow.

You'll have the opportunity to build something meaningful, influence business decisions and help make the complex world of healthcare practice management a little simpler.

Next Steps:

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial screening call by our internal TA team.

Equal Opportunity Employer:

splose is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. If you need support and adjustments in participating in this process, please let us know!
