We are seeking an experienced Senior Marine Insurance Specialist to manage marine insurance portfolios, assess complex maritime risks, and ensure appropriate coverage for cargo, vessels, and transportation-related exposures.

The Role

The Senior Marine Insurance Specialist will oversee marine insurance placements, policy administration, claims coordination, and risk assessments involving cargo shipments, marine liabilities, vessels, and project-related transportation. The successful candidate will work closely with insurers, brokers, shipping companies, logistics providers, project teams, and clients to secure suitable coverage and manage marine insurance exposures effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage marine insurance portfolios covering cargo, vessels, freight, and maritime-related liabilities.
• Assess marine risks associated with international shipments, construction materials, heavy equipment, and project cargo.
• Review and negotiate marine insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, deductibles, and coverage limits.
• Coordinate insurance placements and renewals with insurers, reinsurers, and insurance brokers.
• Evaluate cargo insurance requirements for domestic and international transportation.
• Review marine insurance certificates, declarations, policy schedules, and shipment documentation.
• Assess claims involving cargo damage, loss in transit, vessel incidents, and other insured marine events.
• Coordinate with surveyors, adjusters, legal advisers, and claims handlers during investigations.
• Monitor policy compliance with contractual requirements, shipping terms, and applicable insurance regulations.
• Advise project managers, procurement teams, and logistics departments on marine insurance requirements.
• Identify coverage gaps and recommend improvements to marine risk management arrangements.
• Analyze policy wording, warranties, exclusions, and claims conditions to determine potential exposure.
• Maintain accurate records of insurance placements, claims, renewals, premiums, and risk assessments.
• Prepare reports on marine insurance performance, claims trends, loss ratios, and portfolio exposure.
• Monitor developments in maritime trade, cargo transportation, marine liability, and insurance markets.
• Support internal audits and contribute to improvements in insurance governance and documentation processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5–8 years of relevant experience in marine insurance, marine claims, underwriting, brokerage, or corporate risk management.
• Strong understanding of marine cargo insurance, hull and machinery coverage, marine liability, and project cargo risks.
• Experience reviewing marine insurance policy wordings, endorsements, exclusions, and claims documentation.
• Familiarity with international shipping operations, freight forwarding, Incoterms, and cargo transportation documentation.
• Knowledge of UAE insurance requirements and relevant international marine insurance practices.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance policy or claims management systems.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with international stakeholders across multiple time zones.
• Professional insurance qualifications, such as ACII, CII, or relevant marine insurance certifications, are an advantage.
