Join the Redwire Space team in developing and fielding end-to-end innovative mission critical space system solutions for next generation space architecture. At Redwire, you will work closely with customers from concept development through mission operations to ensure mission success.

To support the continued growth of our project portfolio and expanding product roadmap, we are looking for a Senior Mechanisms Engineer to join our team in Kruibeke, Belgium.

In this role, you will take technical ownership of the full development lifecycle of selected space mechanisms, from concept definition and requirements capture through design, qualification, and product delivery. You will play a key role in developing high-reliability mechanisms for demanding space applications, working in close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development of space-qualified compliant mechanisms, including latching, push-off and related precision mechanisms.
  • Establish and maintain technical requirements, architectures, and design baselines in accordance with ECSS and NASA standards.
  • Drive trade-off analyses and engineering decisions throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Steer mechanism development activities across mechanical, electronics, systems engineering, AIT, manufacturing, and quality disciplines.
  • Provide technical oversight of suppliers and support procurement activities in collaboration with the Supply Chain team.
  • Define and support verification, qualification, and acceptance test campaigns.
  • Contribute to customer reviews, including technical presentations during major project milestones acting as mechanisms expert.
  • Provide technical oversight, guidance, and follow-up for subcontractor mechanism development.
  • Ensure technical performance, quality, schedule, and risk objectives are met at relevant cost for assigned developments.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in the development of mechanisms or closely related hardware.
  • Experience delivering hardware through multiple phases of the product development lifecycle, ideally from concept through qualification and product acceptance.
  • Experience with requirements management, design reviews, verification planning, and technical risk management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systems engineering mindset.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Previous aerospace experience is a plus, but passion, curiosity and a willingness to learn matter just as much. Join us and discover why so many engineers fall in love with space engineering.

Preferred Experience

  • Development of deployment, release, pointing, latching, or precision motion mechanisms.
  • Environmental testing of space hardware, including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and life testing.
  • Mechanism sizing, tolerance analysis, tribology, and reliability engineering.
  • Strong understanding of ECSS and NASA standards and space product assurance principles.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools, DOORS, Jama, or similar engineering toolsets.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to shape next-generation space products within a growing Team.
  • High level of technical ownership and influence over product development decisions.
  • A collaborative multidisciplinary environment where engineering excellence drives innovation.
  • Hybrid working model with flexibility between home and our Kruibeke site.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge space hardware developments and international customers.
  • Occasional travel for supplier visits, reviews, and test campaigns.

Interested, but not sure you meet every single requirement? Research shows that men will apply to jobs when they meet only 60% of the requirements, but women and other minority groups may only apply if they're sure they meet 100%. If you were turning away because you don't meet 100%, well, we'd still like to hear from you - tell us how you're the best fit for the requirements you're sure you meet.

To accept positions and relocate to Redwire Space, candidates must

  • have a police/criminal record check, that is not more than six months old.
  • be approved by ITAR regulations.
  • be uploaded to the greenhouse portal.
  • apply directly or be uploaded by a recognized partner.
