About the Role
Join a platform engineering team building and operating the cloud infrastructure and data systems behind a large-scale public safety technology platform. You will own reliable systems end to end, from architecture and implementation through deployment and on-call operations.
What You'll Do
Design and operate data pipelines that ingest large volumes of data into object storage and index it in databases and vector stores for retrieval.
Shape storage and retrieval architecture, balancing hot and cold storage, distributed databases, and high-throughput messaging and streaming systems.
Deploy and scale containerized services across environments using orchestration platforms, declarative configuration, and GitOps workflows.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and developer tooling for safe, frequent releases.
Help operate secure, auditable systems in federal or other regulated environments.
Debug and tune systems across application code, storage, and networking, and mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
What We're Looking For
Five or more years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems, with approximately 5 to 10 years of overall experience.
Hands-on experience with AWS production workloads and designing large-scale data storage and retrieval, including hot and cold storage.
A strong foundation in distributed systems, backend engineering, production data pipelines, and end-to-end ownership of systems, including on-call operations.
Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and automated deployments.
Experience running containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, and familiarity with tools and technologies such as Terraform, GitOps, ArgoCD, Helm, Python, Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, object storage, and vector or distributed SQL databases.
Federal or regulated-environment experience, including FedRAMP, is helpful. Backend or distributed systems experience is required in addition to any front-end background.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $175,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in New York, United States.
