About the Role
Join a public safety technology team building and operating the data and infrastructure platform behind large-scale information retrieval. You will own reliable distributed systems across their full lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to deployment and on-call operations.
What You'll Do
Design and operate data pipelines that ingest large volumes of data into object storage and index it in databases and vector stores for fast retrieval.
Shape storage and retrieval architecture, balancing hot and cold storage tiers, distributed databases, and high-throughput messaging and streaming systems.
Run and scale containerized services across environments using orchestration platforms, declarative configuration, and GitOps workflows.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and developer tooling that support safe, frequent releases.
Help maintain secure, auditable, and reliable systems in regulated or federal environments.
Troubleshoot and tune application, storage, and networking systems, and mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
What We're Looking For
Five or more years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems, with roughly 5 to 10 years of overall experience.
Hands-on experience with AWS production workloads and a strong understanding of distributed systems.
Experience designing large-scale data storage and retrieval systems, including hot and cold storage, and building production data pipelines.
DevOps experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and automated deployments.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps, Python or Go, PostgreSQL, object storage, Kafka, vector databases, or distributed SQL databases.
Backend or distributed systems experience in addition to front-end development experience.
Experience owning production systems end to end and troubleshooting across application code, storage, and networking.
Experience in FedRAMP, federal, or other regulated environments is valued.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $175,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in New York, United States.
