The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme. Within Ahpra's Health Workforce Directorate, the Multiprofession Policy team develops and delivers regulatory policy across all regulated health professions that supports public protection, harm prevention and effective health practitioner regulation across Australia.
We have two full-time opportunities available, including one ongoing and one 12-month fixed-term position. The successful candidates can be based in any Ahpra office location, with a preference for Melbourne. A merit pool may also be established.
About the role
As a Senior Policy and Project Officer, you will contribute to the development, review, consultation, implementation and evaluation of regulatory policy that supports National Boards and Ahpra in delivering effective health practitioner regulation.
Working across a diverse portfolio, you will undertake desktop research and analysis, develop policy advice, manage policy projects and engage with stakeholders to deliver evidence-informed regulatory outcomes. Your work will contribute to registration standards, codes of conduct, guidelines and other policy initiatives that directly influence health practitioner regulation and safe, professional practice across Australia.
About you
You are an experienced policy professional who enjoys working through complex issues and translating evidence, stakeholder perspectives and strategic priorities into practical policy solutions.
Collaborative and adaptable, you communicate clearly, exercise sound judgement and build productive relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. You are motivated by meaningful work and enjoy contributing to policy outcomes that have real impact.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience developing, reviewing and/or implementing policy within a regulatory, government or similarly complex environment.
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop clear and evidence-informed advice.
- Demonstrated experience managing policy projects and delivering outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultation skills.
- High-quality written communication skills, including experience preparing briefings, reports and policy papers for diverse internal and external audiences.
- Strong organisational skills, adaptability and the ability to manage competing priorities.
