Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer – SADC

South Africa Remote | ZAR 2.5M–3M OTE | ZAR 120k Car Allowance | Company Stock

Bring the technical expertise. Build customer confidence. Help win the region.

You know backup, storage and data protection. You can take a complex technical challenge, design a credible solution and help customers understand why it matters to their business.

Now, here’s an opportunity to put that expertise to work across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, with a growing global vendor in data protection and cyber resilience.

We’re looking for a Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer to take a leading technical role in enterprise opportunities, build strong partner relationships and help drive regional growth.

💰 What’s on offer

  • 💷 ZAR 2.5M–3M annual OTE, with a 70/30 split between base salary and variable earnings.
  • 🚗 ZAR 120,000 annual car allowance.
  • 🏡 Remote role based in South Africa, with travel across SADC countries when required.
  • 📈 Company stock.
  • 🩺 Medical and dental cover.
  • 🛡️ Life assurance.
  • 🌴 Annual leave.

The opportunity

You’ll be the technical lead throughout the sales cycle, working alongside field sales to understand customer challenges, shape solutions and demonstrate the value of the technology.

From technical discovery and architecture discussions to demonstrations and proofs of concept, you’ll help enterprise customers make confident decisions about their backup, recovery and storage environments.

The role combines technical ownership, customer engagement and regional influence. You’ll work directly with customers and channel partners, helping develop both individual opportunities and the technical capability of the wider partner network.

You must be based in South Africa and willing to travel to countries across the SADC region when required for customer meetings, partner engagements, workshops and technical evaluations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead technical discovery: Understand customers’ infrastructure, business priorities and backup, recovery and storage requirements.
  • Design the right solution: Own sizing, architecture and technical proposals that address customer needs.
  • Bring the technology to life: Deliver engaging presentations, demonstrations, workshops and solution briefings.
  • Prove the value: Lead technical evaluations and support proofs of concept with clear success criteria.
  • Support enterprise opportunities: Manage the technical aspects of sales cycles, including RFPs, RFIs and competitive positioning.
  • Develop partner capability: Help resellers and channel partners understand, demonstrate and position the technology effectively.
  • Build trusted relationships: Engage infrastructure teams, architects, IT leaders and senior decision-makers across the region.
  • Collaborate across the business: Work closely with sales, post-sales and support teams to ensure a strong customer experience.

What you’ll bring

You’re already operating in a customer-facing technical role, perhaps as a Senior Systems Engineer, Pre-Sales Consultant, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect or Technical Architect.

You’re confident leading technical conversations, explaining complex concepts clearly and challenging assumptions constructively. You understand how to connect technical capability to business value and help move a sales opportunity forward.

We’re particularly interested in experience across:

  • Backup, recovery, disaster recovery and data protection.
  • Enterprise storage, secondary storage or backup appliances.
  • Ransomware resilience and cyber recovery, including immutability and air-gapped recovery approaches.
  • Technical discovery, solution design, sizing and architecture.
  • Customer demonstrations, workshops and proofs of concept.
  • Backup platforms such as Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, Cohesity or similar.
  • Channel-led sales, working with resellers, distributors and technology partners.

You don’t need experience with every platform listed. You do need strong pre-sales capability, solid infrastructure knowledge and the confidence to own the technical side of an enterprise sales cycle.

Why make the move?

This is an opportunity to combine technical depth with commercial impact across a broad regional market.

You’ll help customers address challenges around ransomware recovery, backup performance, data retention and cost control, while working alongside an international team focused on growth.

For someone who enjoys customer engagement, partner collaboration and seeing their technical work translate into business wins, there’s real scope to make your mark.
