As the Procurement, Senior Manager, you will lead Sonova’s global procurement strategy for packaging across primary, secondary, transport and promotional packaging, ensuring competitive total cost, reliable supply, regulatory and quality compliance, and measurable sustainability improvements. The Senior Procurement Manager will act as the global category owner and subject-matter expert, partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Marketing, Sustainability and local procurement teams to harmonize specifications, consolidate demand, strengthen supplier performance and enable packaging innovation across Sonova companies. The role owns the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from category strategy and sourcing through contracting, supplier relationship management, risk mitigation and continuous value delivery.
More about the role
- Develop, align and execute a global category strategy for primary, secondary, transport and promotional packaging across Sonova.
- Build a transparent global spend, supplier, specification and demand baseline; identify consolidation, standardization and value-creation opportunities.
- Lead strategic sourcing, competitive tenders, negotiations and contracting, using total-cost-of-ownership, cost-driver and should-cost analyses.
- Partner with R&D/Tech Pack, Quality and Regulatory Affairs to ensure sourcing decisions support product protection, patient safety, traceability and applicable packaging requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to improve supply continuity, lead times, minimum order quantities, inventory exposure and packaging performance.
- Partner with Marketing and business units on promotional packaging, balancing brand requirements, speed, quality, cost and sustainability.
- Drive design-to-value and specification optimization, including material reduction, format harmonization, reuse and recyclability opportunities without compromising product or quality requirements.
- Create and maintain a robust supplier segmentation and supplier relationship management program; define KPIs and lead business reviews covering cost, quality, delivery, innovation, risk and sustainability.
- Develop risk-mitigation and business-continuity plans for critical materials and suppliers, including dual-source, capacity, geographic and financial-risk considerations.
- Own supplier qualification and governance activities in collaboration with Tech Pack, Quality, Legal, Compliance and relevant Sonova functions.
- Use market intelligence for paper, board, plastics, films, foams, labels, printing and relevant conversion technologies to anticipate cost and supply-market changes.
- Lead cross-functional packaging initiatives and influence global and local stakeholders through clear governance, fact-based recommendations and disciplined implementation.
- Track and report savings, cost avoidance, working-capital impact, supplier performance, risk reduction and sustainability outcomes in line with Procurement governance.
- Promote digital procurement, e-sourcing, contract lifecycle management and analytics to improve compliance, transparency and decision-making.
- Act as Sonova’s global packaging procurement expert and represent Procurement in packaging development, change-control and innovation projects.
More about you
- 7+ years of progressive procurement/category-management experience, including significant responsibility for packaging in an international organization.
- Demonstrated experience across multiple packaging subcategories such as cartons, corrugated cases, labels, printed materials, plastics, films, trays, foams and promotional packs.
- Proven delivery of global or multi-region category strategies, strategic sourcing, complex negotiations, contracting and supplier performance improvement.
- Strong understanding of packaging cost drivers, manufacturing/conversion processes, tooling, print technologies, specifications and total-cost-of-ownership.
- Experience partnering with technical, operational, quality, regulatory, supply-chain and commercial stakeholders.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Experience with supplier risk management, continuity planning and procurement governance.
