The Opportunity
Join the product design team of a US health benefits technology company as a senior product designer on the member experience. You will bring the core parts of a health plan to life for the people who use it, turning confusing healthcare moments into clear, accessible and trustworthy experiences across web and mobile. You will work embedded with scrum teams alongside product managers, engineers, business analysts and a UX research team. Fully remote from Latin America, US business hours, 6 month contract.
What You'll Do
- Plan, run and analyze user research, including interviews, surveys and usability studies, to understand user needs, behaviors and pain points and find where the experience can improve.
- Turn research insights and business requirements into user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high fidelity UI designs.
- Iterate on your designs based on user feedback, technical feasibility and business goals.
- Work in and follow the design system every day, and contribute new components, patterns and improvements back to it, partnering with engineering to keep design and code in sync.
- Design accessible experiences that meet WCAG 2.2 AA, and test your work with accessibility tools and assistive technology before handoff.
- Use AI tools to speed up exploration, prototyping, research synthesis and design review, and critically evaluate what they produce. Use AI assisted checks to catch design system and accessibility issues early.
- Create and maintain UI specifications and design documentation that keep the design consistent and make development easier.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, business analysts and other cross functional partners across the full product development lifecycle.
- Present design concepts and rationale clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.
- Stay current on UX and UI trends, best practices and emerging technologies.
What You'll Bring
- A strong portfolio that shows exceptional UI craft and the breadth and depth of your work against this role. A portfolio is required to be considered: share a link or upload it with your application.
- 5 or more years of UX design experience building products people find easy to use, on web and mobile.
- Experience applying and evolving a design system, including contributing components or patterns.
- Working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA and experience shipping accessible products.
- Experience using AI tools in your design workflow, with sound judgment about where they help and where they don't.
- Experience with user testing tools and with partnering with a UX research team to turn insights into actionable improvements.
- The ability to bring clarity to complex problem spaces using whiteboards, flowcharts, wireframes or other visual diagrams.
- The ability to explain design rationale, document decisions and deliver detailed specs engineers can build from.
- A strong understanding of grid systems, hierarchy, typography and color.
- Curiosity about using data to inform design.
- Attention to detail, an obsession with craft and openness to feedback.
- Resourcefulness, eagerness to adopt best practices and a drive to achieve design breakthroughs.
- A bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal English.
What Sets You Apart
- A desire to make a significant impact in healthcare.
- Experience designing for healthcare applications, insurance technology or enterprise products.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards such as HIPAA and WCAG, and how they affect design.
- Experience with design tokens or design to code workflows.
