Senior Product Engineer - Python (LATAM, Remote)

We're hiring a senior product engineer for an early-stage, US-based AI software company. In this role you'll build the backend, then quickly put together the frontend needed to ship a working product. You'll own large features end to end, from a loosely defined spec to production. This is a full-time, fully remote role on US Pacific hours.

What you'll do

• Turn large, loosely defined product specs into technical plans, milestones and shipped code
• Design, build and scale production backend services in Python, then build the frontend needed to ship the feature (React and TypeScript)
• Own complex business logic: workflows, state transitions and edge cases
• Work closely with product and frontend engineers, contribute to product decisions and understand the business reason behind what you build
• Design data models across BigQuery (SQL) and Firestore (NoSQL)
• Push toward higher automation rates for customers, so the product does more of the work for them
• Surface issues early, take initiative and own your projects from design through production
• Get your engineering plans reviewed and signed off by the team, and bring product questions to leadership
• Use AI coding tools in a disciplined workflow, while fully understanding the code you ship
• Join the on-call rotation and keep production healthy

You may be a fit if

• You've designed, built and scaled backend services behind customer-facing products
• You have senior-level experience owning large, ambiguous scopes from spec to production
• You write strong production Python
• Backend is your strength, and you're willing and able to pick up frontend work quickly
• You make sound architecture decisions and handle complex workflows and edge cases well
• You've built systems that grew in users, traffic or data, and you design for scale
• You care more about engineering depth and learning quickly than about any specific framework
• You operate autonomously and proactively, raise problems before they grow, and are reliable on deadlines
• You use AI tools daily and review their output carefully
• You're energized by fast iteration and comfortable when an experiment fails and the plan changes
• You're fluent in English and communicate well in writing, in an async-first team
• You can work 9 AM to 6 PM US Pacific Time
• You're based in Latin America (Mexico and Central America preferred for time zone overlap)

Nice to have

• Experience with FastAPI, React, Vue/Nuxt or Tailwind
• Data modeling across relational/analytical and NoSQL databases
• Early engineer at a startup that grew significantly while you were there
• Founder or founding engineer experience or BigTech experience
• Shipped AI features: LLM integrations, chatbots, agents or support automation
• Experience with SMB-focused SaaS, payments or commerce
