Job Description

As Senior Project Manager, you plan and lead large deployment projects (transitions) and development projects (transformations) of IT services for Elisa's business customers. Projects are mainly large multi-service deliveries, but also include smaller single-service deliveries.

You lead the project team, experts and subcontractors and manage the schedule, resources, risks, scope and finances proactively according to the plan, the contract and Elisa's certified project model. You make independent decisions within your agreed mandate and escalate in good time when needed.

Typical projects cover server, data center, public cloud, workstation and end-user services. You ensure production readiness, handover to service management and the start of billing, and close each project with a final report and profitability analysis.

You don't do this alone: a multi-skilled project team, our certified project model and the support of your colleagues are always there. You also mentor less experienced project managers and help develop our project practices.

The Senior Project Manager ensures that the customer's transition or transformation is delivered as agreed: on schedule, within budget and with the right quality. Proactive leadership and clear communication give the customer a reliable view of progress and a smooth path into production.

Your Responsibilities Include

• Planning and proactively leading large IT transition and transformation projects
• Leading project teams, experts, subcontractors and projects with several subprojects
• Managing resourcing, schedule, risks, scope and changes
• Managing project finances: budget, forecast and profitability
• Status reporting and presenting the project situation to the steering group
• Ensuring production readiness, handover to service management and start of billing
• Supporting sales in the bid phase with project plans and effort estimates
• Mentoring less experienced project managers and developing Elisa's project practices
  
  

To succeed in the role, you have

• At least 5 years of experience in leading large IT projects and successful customer deliveries. It is a must to have experience in IT services transition/transformation projects.
• Proven experience in leading projects with several subprojects and multi-person teams
• Technology understanding, especially of public cloud, data center and capacity services as well as workstation and end-user services
• The ability to discuss technologies and services fluently with customers
• Understanding of project finances and resource planning
• A technical or commercial university degree
• The ability to keep several balls in the air and work under pressure
• A solution-oriented, energetic approach and a continuous improvement mindset
• Excellent communication skills in Finnish and English
• Project management certification (e.g. IPMA-C, PMP) is a plus

Your workplace can be at Elisa's offices in Itä-Pasila (Helsinki), Tampere or Turku. At Elisa, we believe face-to-face interaction is key to maintaining and developing our culture and strengthening our sense of community. In our hybrid work model, we expect you to work at the Elisa office or at customer premises on average three days a week.
