Why BCAA?
Feel proud of what you do and help shape the future of BC at a BC Top Employer. We’re driven by purpose – delivering peace of mind to one in three BC households with insurance, roadside assistance, auto repair, Evo Car Share and Evolve E-Bike Share. With a long history of keeping roads safe and giving back in ways that build stronger communities, we offer a wide variety of meaningful, rewarding careers that move BC forward.
We are currently hiring a Senior QA Automation Engineer, Salesforce based in our Home Office.
As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, Salesforce at BCAA, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of the digital products and technology that support our mobility services. You’ll lead testing activities across web, mobile, API, and integrated hardware and software platforms, combining strong manual testing expertise with test automation to identify risks and deliver high-quality experiences for our Members.
In this position, you’ll develop risk-based test strategies, create and maintain automated test suites using Tricentis Tosca, troubleshoot complex defects, and collaborate with delivery teams, vendors, and business partners throughout the development lifecycle. You’ll also support production systems, contribute to continuous improvement, and mentor more junior team members to strengthen quality practices across the team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality assurance professional who enjoys solving complex problems, improving automation, and getting hands-on with technology, from web and mobile applications to APIs, cars, e-bikes, and e-scooters.
Who you are:
- You are an experienced QA professional with a strong background in both manual and automated testing across complex digital and technology environments.
- You are highly analytical and curious, with strong investigative skills and an eye for identifying defects, edge cases, and potential customer impacts.
- You understand how to take requirements, user workflows, and risks and turn them into effective, practical test coverage.
- You are comfortable troubleshooting complex issues and determining whether failures are related to the product, automation scripts, test data, or environment.
- You are a collaborative communicator who works effectively with technical teams, business partners, and external vendors to resolve issues and manage release risks.
- You bring a continuous improvement mindset and look for opportunities to improve test coverage, automation reliability, and overall quality practices.
- You are a self-starter who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and enjoys sharing knowledge and supporting the development of others.
What you’ll do:
- Review requirements and user stories to develop clear, risk-based test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
- Determine the appropriate combination of manual and automated testing based on product requirements, risk, and business impact.
- Execute manual and automated testing across web, mobile, API, and supported vehicle platforms, including cars, e-bikes, and e-scooters.
- Create and maintain automated test suites in Tricentis Tosca, developing reusable, model-based test components and improving automation coverage.
- Monitor and troubleshoot automated regression runs, distinguishing product defects from automation script, test data, and environment issues.
- Identify, assess, document, and track defects through resolution, providing clear evidence and communicating quality and release risks.
- Collaborate with delivery teams, vendors, and business partners to resolve issues, support testing activities, and reduce delivery risk.
- Configure hardware and software systems to support product launches and operational changes.
- Respond to production issues, investigate root causes, and contribute to issue resolution and system stability.
- Support system upgrades and production activities, including occasional work outside regular business hours.
- Mentor more junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement across testing and quality practices.
- Contribute to an excellent user experience by approaching quality and testing from a customer and Member perspective.
What you bring:
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of hands-on software or system testing experience across manual and automated testing.
- Experience testing web, mobile, APIs, and integrated hardware/software solutions.
- Strong knowledge of testing approaches including functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, risk-based, manual, and automated testing.
- Experience designing test coverage based on requirements, user workflows, risk, edge cases, and customer or operational impacts.
- Experience creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated test suites and regression runs. Tricentis Tosca experience is preferred.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
- Hands-on knowledge of test automation scripting and JavaScript.
- Knowledge of SQL is an asset.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills, including the ability to clearly communicate defects and release risks.
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments and using tools such as Jira and Confluence, with an understanding of SDLC and STLC practices.
- Comfortable completing occasional offsite testing and testing supported mobility platforms, including cars, e-bikes, and e-scooters.
- Availability to occasionally support system upgrades or production issues outside regular business hours.
- Tricentis Tosca training or certification is an asset.
Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (3 on-site / 2 remote days). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered.
