Role Description The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide specialized cost management support for complex, BIM-enabled projects in a part-time, remote capacity. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), conducting cost planning and cost estimation, and overseeing cost control processes throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves monitoring and reporting project costs, analyzing variances, advising on value engineering opportunities, and ensuring alignment with budgets and contractual obligations. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with project managers, design teams, and BIM specialists to validate quantities, support 4D/5D simulations, and provide accurate, data-driven cost insights. This position requires proactive communication, rigorous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with geographically distributed teams.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in cost planning and cost management, including budgeting, estimating, and forecasting for construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong skills in cost control and cost reporting, with the ability to track expenditures, analyze variances, and produce clear, timely financial reports.
  • Proficiency in BOQ preparation and measurement, with experience interpreting drawings, BIM models, and specifications to ensure accurate quantities.
  • Relevant academic background such as a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working with BIM-based workflows and digital tools for cost analysis (e.g., 5D BIM, cost databases, QS software) is highly beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle complex data sets.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present cost findings to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in the MENA region or international projects, with familiarity with regional contract forms, procurement methods, and market rates considered an advantage.
  • Ability to manage priorities in a part-time, remote setting, maintaining professionalism, accountability, and adherence to deadlines.
