About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAN Infrastructure Specialist to design, manage, optimize, and support enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) environments. This fully remote role focuses on storage architecture, infrastructure performance, availability, capacity planning, incident resolution, data protection, and technical governance.

The successful candidate will help maintain reliable and scalable storage infrastructure supporting critical enterprise applications, databases, virtualization platforms, and business services. The role requires strong technical expertise in SAN technologies, storage networking, infrastructure monitoring, and operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and support enterprise SAN infrastructure across distributed IT environments.
• Manage storage area network technologies, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and related storage connectivity solutions.
• Administer enterprise storage platforms from major vendors such as Dell EMC, HPE, IBM, NetApp, or equivalent providers.
• Configure and manage storage arrays, logical unit numbers (LUNs), storage pools, volumes, and provisioning policies.
• Manage Fibre Channel switches, fabric configurations, zoning, and connectivity between servers and storage systems.
• Monitor SAN performance, availability, latency, throughput, and capacity utilization.
• Troubleshoot storage connectivity issues, path failures, performance bottlenecks, and infrastructure incidents.
• Coordinate remotely with server, network, database, virtualization, and application teams to resolve storage-related issues.
• Support storage provisioning and allocation requests in accordance with approved capacity and access policies.
• Manage multipathing configurations and review host-to-storage connectivity for resilience and performance.
• Develop capacity forecasts and recommend infrastructure expansion or optimization strategies.
• Support storage replication, snapshots, cloning, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Review backup and recovery integration with enterprise storage environments.
• Assist with SAN firmware upgrades, software updates, configuration changes, and lifecycle management planning.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure diagrams, configuration records, operating procedures, and technical documentation.
• Conduct remote technical assessments of storage architecture and identify opportunities to improve performance and resilience.
• Support incident, problem, and change management processes in accordance with IT service management practices.
• Review infrastructure alerts, diagnostic logs, and monitoring reports to identify emerging risks.
• Implement and maintain storage security controls, including zoning restrictions, access permissions, and configuration governance.
• Support disaster recovery exercises through technical planning, replication reviews, and recovery documentation.
• Coordinate with vendors and managed service providers on technical escalations, maintenance planning, and problem resolution.
• Contribute to automation initiatives for storage provisioning, monitoring, reporting, and routine administration.
• Participate in infrastructure audits and provide evidence of configuration compliance and operational controls.
• Recommend improvements to storage architecture, service availability, operational efficiency, and cost management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant professional experience in SAN administration, enterprise storage engineering, or data center infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Fibre Channel architecture, SAN fabrics, zoning, and storage connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise storage arrays and management platforms.
• Understanding of iSCSI, multipathing, host bus adapters, LUN masking, and storage provisioning.
• Experience supporting storage environments connected to VMware, Hyper-V, Linux, and Windows Server platforms.
• Knowledge of storage replication, snapshots, backup integration, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting storage performance, latency, capacity, and availability.
• Understanding of RAID levels, storage tiering, thin provisioning, and data protection concepts.
• Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Knowledge of ITIL-based incident, problem, change, and configuration management processes.
• Understanding of infrastructure security, access control, and operational risk management.
• Experience preparing technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including root-cause analysis.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with geographically distributed infrastructure teams.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Relevant vendor certifications in storage, networking, or data center technologies are advantageous.
