Leidos is seeking a Scrum Master to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the development of the Leidos Common Automation Platform (L-CAP). L-CAP is a mission-critical, future-ready automation platform built on a hybrid cloud data mesh architecture, enabling next-generation air traffic management capabilities. This role operates within a SAFe/Agile framework as part of an Agile Release Train (ART) delivering iterative value across the program.

The Scrum Master will serve as a servant leader responsible for facilitating agile ceremonies, removing impediments, and guiding teams toward higher levels of agile maturity. The role works closely with Product Owners, engineers, program leadership, and other Scrum Masters to ensure alignment across teams and successful execution of program objectives.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home, if you are located within a commutable distance (50 miles or less) from Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor Township, NJ. However, if you do not reside within a commutable distance, you will be considered for a 100% remote role.

This role focuses on building and modernizing real-time, safety-critical systems using a combination of traditional systems engineering and AI-augmented software development practices. You’ll work on software that directly supports national air traffic operations, and applies AI tools to accelerate development, improve quality, and enhance system reliability.

  • Coordinate Program Increment (PI) planning activities and support cross team collaboration within a SAFe Agile Release Train
  • Remove impediments and help teams resolve issues that impact delivery timelines or quality
  • Guide teams in applying Agile and Lean principles to improve efficiency, transparency, and delivery outcomes
  • Coach team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on agile practices and mindset adoption
  • Track team progress using agile metrics and communicate status, risks, and dependencies to leadership and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with other Scrum Masters and program leadership through Scrum of Scrums and related forums
  • Support backlog management and ensure user stories are properly refined and ready for development
  • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives, communities of practice, and agile maturity assessments
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages ownership, accountability, and innovation

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; may also possess a Doctorate. (Additional equivalent experience may be used in lieu of completed educational requirements)
  • 2+ years relevant experience supporting Agile software development programs
  • Experience serving as a Scrum Master or Agile facilitator within a software development environment
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe
  • Experience using Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Successful completion of background investigations as required by the government customer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent certification
  • Experience supporting government programs
  • Experience working in SAFe environments or Agile Release Trains
  • Experience with DevOps, software engineering, or systems engineering teams
  • Experience with safety-critical or highly regulated software domains
  • Knowledge of air traffic control systems, air traffic management, or flight services
  • Track record of successful delivery on large government programs
  • Desired but not required: Commutable distance to Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Why Leidos?

You’ll work on systems where performance, precision, and reliability matter — every second. This is not experimental AI for prototypes. This is disciplined, responsible AI applied to mission-critical software that supports national infrastructure.

If you’re excited by solving complex problems in regulated, real-world environments — and using AI as a force multiplier rather than a shortcut — we’d like to talk.
