Show job description

As a Test Automation Engineer / SDET, you will be critical in ensuring the quality and reliability of the platform as it decomposes from a monolithic system into a robust, cloud-native architecture.

Own and extend test automation for the project as it moves to cloud. Drive the test automation plan, the test plans and backlog, the pipeline POCs and the test environment documentation

About the Product

The platform is an enterprise-grade .NET-based system currently operating in multiple customer environments.

The modernization roadmap involves replatforming to the cloud using a lift-and-shift model — introducing cloud automation, secure connectivity, and telemetry while preserving existing functionality.

Future phases will focus on progressive decoupling and transition toward cloud-native components.

Responsibility

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for the new services and components being deployed in the cloud, covering web (including cross-browser), API, and backend systems. Utilize Playwright to ensure high-quality and reliable software releases, focusing on both the legacy system and the newly refactored cloud components
  • Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman, Insomnia, or K6 to validate the functional and performance aspects of RESTful services and GraphQL endpoints, which are central to the new decoupled architecture
  • Collaborate closely with development and DevOps teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous testing and ensuring high-quality software delivery at cloud speed
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving the overall quality, maintainability, and scalability of the test automation codebase
  • Analyze test results, report bugs, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues efficiently, providing detailed technical context for defects
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the quality assurance approach for the entire platform, embracing a shift-left testing methodology

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in test automation, with a focus on developing and maintaining scalable automated test frameworks in Python using pytest
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining end-to-end web automation suites using Playwright and generating reporting via Allure
  • Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Insomnia, or K6
  • Relational database experience, ideally SQL Server: test data is held in database backups, data setup and seeding is a challenge
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and GraphQL, including how to test and validate API requests and responses
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation scripting and framework development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and experience integrating automated tests with tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar, to support continuous testing in a cloud environment
  • Experience running automation against freshly deployed environments on Windows/IIS, in AWS. They should be comfortable working with Terraform-provisioned environments built by the cloud team
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments
  • Familiarity with testing practices for cloud-native applications (e.g., microservices, containers, and event-driven architectures)

Nice to have

  • Knowledge and experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD), including writing feature files using Gherkin syntax
  • Familiarity with performance or load testing tools in a cloud context
  • Exposure to healthcare data interoperability standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR or similar)
  • Experience using AI coding agents to speed up test authoring
