Python | AWS | Kubernetes | Machine Learning Infrastructure
Location: Oxfordshire / Remote (Hybrid preferred)
Contract: 18-month Fixed-Term Contract, with potential to extend or become permanent
Love building cloud infrastructure that makes ambitious AI projects possible?
Enjoy working with Python, Kubernetes and modern MLOps technologies?
Looking for a role where you can influence technical decisions rather than simply maintain existing systems?
If that sounds like you, this could be an exciting next step.
Humand Talent is partnering with an innovative, technology-focused organisation looking for a Senior Software Engineer – MLOps to help develop and scale the infrastructure behind advanced AI and machine learning applications.
Our client is investing in sophisticated engineering capabilities, bringing together software development, cloud technologies and applied AI to create reliable, scalable solutions.
You'll join a collaborative technical team where there's genuine opportunity to take ownership, explore emerging technologies and help shape an evolving platform.
Why This Role is Great
This is an opportunity to get hands-on with meaningful engineering challenges while developing your expertise across cloud infrastructure, machine learning operations and modern software delivery.
You'll have the chance to:
- Build and shape cloud infrastructure – Design and develop secure, scalable environments that support demanding AI and machine learning workloads.
- Bring machine learning into production – Work on ML model deployment, training infrastructure and efficient pipelines that help turn complex technology into practical applications.
- Get creative with Python – Develop clean, reliable and maintainable software while contributing to strong engineering practices.
- Explore modern MLOps tooling – Gain deeper experience with containerisation, Kubernetes, CI/CD and automation.
- Influence technical decisions – Work closely with experienced engineers to evaluate technologies, solve challenges and contribute ideas.
- Experiment with emerging AI technologies – Develop exposure to new approaches in AI infrastructure, model serving and intelligent development tooling.
- Grow your technical influence – Take on increasing ownership as the platform develops, with opportunities to broaden your engineering responsibilities.
The environment is evolving, meaning you'll have the freedom to contribute to how things are built rather than simply follow an established blueprint.
About You
You'll enjoy combining strong software engineering fundamentals with an interest in cloud platforms, AI infrastructure and emerging technologies.
Our client would love to hear from engineers who have experience with some of the following:
- Python development – Commercial experience building reliable applications, ideally using libraries such as NumPy, pandas or scikit-learn.
- Cloud engineering – Experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Kubernetes and containers – Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm or similar technologies.
- DevOps practices – An understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated testing and modern deployment processes.
- MLOps or data engineering – Exposure to model deployment, training pipelines, data processing or related infrastructure.
- Software engineering experience – Ideally around five years or more developing, delivering and improving software within collaborative teams.
You'll also enjoy discussing technical approaches, exploring different solutions and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
Extra Skills That Could Make You Stand Out
Experience or an interest in any of the following would be a welcome bonus:
- LLM deployment, fine-tuning or model serving.
- Agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen or CrewAI.
- MLOps technologies including Kubeflow or KServe.
- Infrastructure as Code and GitOps tools such as Terraform or Flux.
- Secure AI systems and privacy-focused engineering.
You don't need to tick every box. If you're a strong Python or cloud engineer who wants to develop further into MLOps, our client would be interested in hearing from you.
What's in It for You?
Beyond the technical challenges, this position offers the opportunity to build your career in a developing area of software engineering.
Here's what makes it worth exploring:
- Interesting technical challenges – Work with AI, machine learning and cloud infrastructure in an environment that encourages problem-solving.
- Real ownership – Contribute to the design and development of technology rather than focusing solely on maintenance and support.
- Career development – Broaden your expertise across MLOps, infrastructure and advanced AI tooling.
- An experienced team – Collaborate with knowledgeable engineers who value technical curiosity and quality.
- Flexibility – Hybrid working is preferred, with fully remote arrangements considered for suitable candidates.
- Longer-term potential – An initial 18-month contract with the possibility of extension or permanent employment, subject to future funding.
