We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialty Commercial Property Underwriter to manage complex commercial property risks, make strategic underwriting decisions, and build strong broker relationships. This role offers ownership of risk selection, pricing, coverage structures, and portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal commercial property risks from submission through quote, bind, and renewal.
• Evaluate COPE (Construction, Occupancy, Protection, Exposure), loss history, property valuations, inspections, and risk data.
• Determine appropriate pricing, deductibles, limits, coverage terms, and exclusions.
• Manage broker relationships, underwriting negotiations, and policy endorsements.
• Review and apply ISO, AAIS, and manuscript commercial property forms.
• Utilize underwriting platforms, geospatial data, and AI-assisted risk assessment tools.
• Monitor portfolio performance, loss trends, and risk concentrations.
• Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to underwriting guidelines and process improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, preferably in an MGA, E&S carrier, specialty insurer, or wholesale underwriting environment.
• Proven experience independently pricing, quoting, and binding commercial property risks.
• Strong knowledge of COPE, property valuation, risk assessment, and commercial property coverage structures.
• Familiarity with ISO and/or AAIS commercial property forms.
• Experience with underwriting platforms, rating systems, policy administration systems, and property risk data.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and broker communication skills.
• Experience with older, historic, specialty, or complex properties is a plus.
• CPCU, ARM, AU, or similar professional designations are an advantage.
