A new client needs onboarding. A compliance audit is coming up. And when the Managing Director is away, someone needs to be across the technical operation.
Different challenges, but one thing in common: they need someone who knows their way around the technology, understands the risks and can take ownership of what happens next.
Calypsi is an Australian-owned MSP working exclusively with financial services businesses, where technology, security and compliance are closely connected.
We're looking for a Senior System Engineer who can take ownership of client environments, deliver hands-on projects, keep our clients aligned to their compliance obligations, and provide the technical leadership that helps both our clients and our support team stay on track.
What's in it for you?
- Industry certifications and ongoing development. Pursue industry certifications and build on your existing knowledge, with opportunities to develop your expertise across cloud, infrastructure, security and automation.
- Take ownership beyond the ticket queue. You're trusted to look after the platforms and environments that keep our clients running. From technical standards to security and reliability, you’ll have the scope to make decisions, shape how things are done and see the results of your work.
- Be a trusted technical voice. Work closely with the Managing Director on technical decisions, help guide the support team and take responsibility for keeping service delivery running smoothly.
- Your time outside work matters. After-hours activity on the on-call rotation is limited, so you can enjoy your time outside work. You'll also work in a hybrid arrangement, with one day from home each week.
- A little something for your birthday. You'll get an extra day of leave to celebrate. Because who wants to work on their birthday?
What the work looks like
- Look after client infrastructure. Keep the systems our clients rely on secure, reliable and running as they should. Administer and maintain cloud and on-premises environments across Microsoft 365, Azure (IaaS and PaaS), AWS, Windows, Linux, networking and remote access, and resolve the complex escalations.
- Deliver hands-on projects. Most of your week is project work, usually one or two days at a time. Roll out standard Calypsi systems, onboard new clients, build virtual servers, deploy networking equipment and investigate new systems to solve client problems.
- Keep our clients compliant. Our clients are regulated, so compliance never stops. Keep environments aligned to compliance frameworks day to day, support compliance audits and make sure identity, access and security controls are doing their job.
- Harden and protect. Act on escalations from our outsourced SOC, stay on top of patching and vulnerability remediation, and proactively harden client environments across desktop, Microsoft 365, Azure and networking.
- Back the team and make things better. Be the person other engineers turn to for guidance, share your knowledge, keep documentation up to date and look for ways automation and AI can save time and standardise how we work.
What you'll bring
- You've worked in an MSP, MSSP or similar multi-client environment, with the technical depth to independently manage complex client infrastructure and deliver hands-on projects.
- Strong technical experience across Microsoft 365, Azure (IaaS and PaaS), AWS, Windows and Linux environments, networking and security.
- Practical experience with patching, hardening, identity and access controls, backups and business continuity, and an understanding of why compliance matters day to day.
- You take ownership of technical issues, make sound decisions, manage risk and know when to bring others in.
- You enjoy sharing your knowledge and supporting other engineers, helping the team work through technical issues and grow.
- At least one current Microsoft associate certification, such as AZ-104, AB-650, SC-500 or SC-300. ConnectWise experience is preferred, with Sophos or ThreatLocker experience an advantage.
Interested? We'd love to hear from you.
