The Opportunity

Are you a seasoned tax professional with strong expertise in multi-state tax compliance, sales & use tax, and corporate tax strategy? We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to lead our tax function at our store support corporate headquarters in Chandler, AZ.

In this key role, you will power the backbone of our nationwide tax and financial operations, ensuring accurate tax filings, regulatory compliance, and robust strategy implementation to support our continuous business growth.

What You’ll Own & Achieve

A. Tax Provisioning & Financial Reporting

  • Corporate Tax Provisions: Manage quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provision calculations and technical documentation utilizing OneSource Tax Provision (OTP).
  • Deferred Tax Balance Sheet Management: Maintain precise balance sheet reconciliations to accurately track deferred tax assets (DTAs) and liabilities (DTLs) across all consolidated entities.
  • General Ledger Integrity: Calculate, post, and reconcile monthly tax journal entries and general ledger tax accounts to maintain seamless financial reporting integrity.
  • Book/Tax Analysis: Analyze and document temporary and permanent book-to-tax differences, including Section 263A UNICAP adjustments, depreciation schedules, bad debt reserves, and accrued liabilities.

B. Multi-State Tax Compliance & Operations

  • Income Tax Compliance Strategy: Drive data collection and prepare supporting schedules while collaborating closely with external tax partners to execute federal and multi-state corporate income tax filings.
  • Multi-State Tax Coordination: Calculate, review, and coordinate estimated income tax payments, extensions, and annual report filings across state and local jurisdictions within a 12-state operating footprint.
  • Fixed Asset Tax Accounting: Maintain fixed asset tax basis and depreciation schedules using AssetKeeper software.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor federal, state, and local legislative changes to ensure proactive compliance and strategic tax alignment for consolidated corporate operations.

C. Indirect Tax, Audits & Strategic Notice Resolution

  • Tax Authority Representation: Oversee tax authority communications by researching, drafting, and submitting official responses to notices, inquiries, and audits.
  • Transaction Tax Expertise: Research complex multi-state sales and use tax matters, exemptions, and compliance rules applicable to retail and service operations.
  • Property Tax Administration: Manage property tax accruals, assessment reviews, and payment coordination across store footprints.
  • Audit Defense & Advisory Partnership: Partner alongside external tax advisors and state auditors during income, sales, and property tax audits to compile workpapers and defend positions.
  • Strategic Initiatives & Continuous Improvement: Lead ad-hoc corporate tax projects to optimize tax positioning and drive continuous operational improvements.

What You Brings you to the Team

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (MST) highly desirable.
  • Professional Credentials: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Years of Experience: Minimum of 2+ years (3–5 years preferred) of direct corporate income tax experience in a big four or mid-tier public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
  • Technical Mastery: Advanced hands-on experience with OneSource Income Tax (OIT) and OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) software required.
  • Accounting & Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP, ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes), and tax research tools (e.g., Checkpoint, Bloomberg Tax, or CCH).
  • Software & Analytics: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, index/match) and experience with enterprise accounting software.
  • Interpersonal & Self-Management: Highly motivated self-starter with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Work Environment: Hybrid office setup located in Chandler, AZ (Monday–Thursday in-office; Friday remote), workplace includes exposure to an active corporate office and powersports dealership environment, which may include ambient machinery noise, engine revving, and high-energy retail operations .
  • Mobility & Activity: Fast-paced office setting requiring prolonged sitting, keyboard and computer/screen usage and frequent telephone communication.
  • Physical Effort: Occasional standing, walking, bending, and light lifting/moving of files or other office materials up to 25 lbs.
