Senior Technical Engineer

Role Description The Senior Technical Engineer will provide technical leadership for the Digital Moments Cell’s media production and post-production workflows in a part-time, remote role. Day-to-day responsibilities include configuring and maintaining media storage systems, optimizing backup and archiving processes, and ensuring reliable access to digital assets for the creative team. The role involves advising on hardware and software requirements, resolving technical issues related to video and photo editing tools, and improving file management and version control. The Senior Technical Engineer will collaborate closely with creative members to streamline production pipelines, enhance quality and efficiency, and document technical procedures and best practices. This position may also oversee the integration of new technologies, manage basic security for digital assets, and mentor junior team members on technical standards.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in media systems administration, including configuration and maintenance of storage solutions, backup tools, and asset management platforms.
• Candidates should possess strong skills in video and photo workflows, such as file format handling, encoding/decoding, and integration with common editing software.
• Candidates should possess strong skills in troubleshooting and technical support, including diagnosing software and hardware issues and implementing effective solutions.
• Candidates should possess strong skills in documentation and process design, with the ability to create clear guidelines, workflows, and technical standards for the team.
• Candidates should possess strong skills in collaboration and communication, including working effectively with creative stakeholders and explaining technical concepts in accessible language.
• Relevant qualifications include experience in media technology, IT infrastructure, or related engineering fields; familiarity with digital media production environments; and a track record of improving technical workflows.
• Beneficial qualifications include prior experience in educational or student-led organizations, knowledge of basic cybersecurity practices for digital assets, and mentoring or team coordination experience.
