Nørdikat is a small, but highly experienced team, that is already shipping meaningful machine learning tools and systems to game studios using Unreal Engine 5. As a young company, we’re still shaping how we work and what we build. This is an opportunity to help shape both the technology and the company as it grows, while building AI systems that genuinely affect player experience.
You will join a team that brings together game development experience, machine learning expertise, and a strong understanding of player-behavior. Your work will have a direct and measurable effect, influencing how AI agents behave in-game and how those behaviors shape player experience.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working at the intersection of data science and software engineering, improving and extending the Unreal Engine components of our framework.
The Role
You will:
- Take ownership of tools and sensor components and features in Unreal that are needed for our ML pipelines, extending and enhancing our existing solutions.
- Collaborate closely with ML engineers to design, implement, and deploy machine learning systems in production environments using the Unreal Engine
- Communicate effectively across disciplines, clearly explaining the requirements, potential, and trade-offs of the Unreal engine to ML engineers, data scientists and other stakeholders
- Work hands-on across the full pipeline, including data exploration, feature engineering, modelling, and software integration
- Be comfortable operating in ambiguous problem spaces and shaping solutions that are still evolving
- Bring a pragmatic, curious mindset, with strong motivation to build things that make a real difference
Required Background
We would expect you to have:
- A master’s degree in software engineering or related discipline
- Several years (4+) of experience working in the games industry
- Strong programming skills in C++ and familiarity with the Unreal Engine
In addition, you should have:
- A solid foundation of processes used in the games industry
- A solution-oriented mindset to understand requirements from tools users and how to implement them
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
We would be excited if you have:
- Knowledge of traditional Game-AI approaches such as Behavior Trees, FSM or Goal Oriented Planning
- Familiarity with modern machine learning approaches and basic understanding of neural networks
Compensation
This is a paid and fully funded position. Compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience and can be negotiated during the hiring process. Currently, we are not looking for interns.
Logistics
As the current team values meeting in person on a regular basis, this position is advertised as in-office. However, we do run a hybrid approach where employees also occasionally work from home. We therefore are looking for someone who is already in the greater Copenhagen area. The position is to be filled 22nd of October 2026
