Working in tech at Australia Post is where innovation and problem solving meets great people and agile working. You’ll work with bright people on building and maintaining products and services that you and every other Australian get to benefit from every day. Whether you’re working from our modern office or your one at home, you’ll be part of a culture of collaboration and connection, making long-lasting impact right across Australia.

About the opportunity

As our Site Reliability Engineer (DevOps - Ingress), you’ll work on some of Australia Post’s most important digital services, helping keep the platforms connecting customers to us every day secure, resilient, and performing at their best. You’ll be hands-on with our Public/Edge Ingress platforms, building, running and continuously improving the critical cloud infrastructure that connects our customer-facing applications to the outside world.

This is an opportunity to work across cloud, automation, DevOps, and edge security, solving complex problems, strengthening our platforms, and working alongside experienced engineers across Security, Architecture and Delivery.

You’ll also

  • Engineer, operate and continuously improve our Public/Edge Ingress platforms across AWS, Azure, and GCP, developing secure, resilient, and reusable patterns for customer-facing services.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and drive automation through CI/CD and standardised engineering practices.
  • Manage ingress and edge security services including CDN, WAF, Bot Protection, DDoS protection, API gateways, DNS, TLS certificates, and traffic management.
  • Partner with Security, Architecture and Delivery teams to implement ingress security controls, platform guardrails, and edge protection strategies.
  • Troubleshoot complex platform issues and contribute to incident response, problem management, and continuous service improvement.

About you

You’re a hands-on SRE or DevOps engineer who enjoys understanding how things work, solving complex problems and continuously improving the platforms you support. You’re comfortable working across changing priorities and complex environments and bring the curiosity and technical ownership needed to diagnose issues and find a way forward when the answer isn’t immediately obvious.

You’ll also be someone who works well across engineering and delivery teams, builds strong relationships, and keeps learning as technologies and platforms evolve.

You’ll also need

  • Solid SRE, DevOps or platform engineering experience supporting business-critical ingress platforms, ideally within high-traffic or high-transaction environments.
  • Strong hybrid-cloud experience and practical knowledge of ingress technologies including CDN, WAF, load balancers, DNS, API gateways, Bot Protection and DDoS protection.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and CI/CD, including tools such as GitLab, Bamboo or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, Sentinel or equivalent.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to support incidents across ingress, networking, edge security, and cloud platforms.
  • Scripting skills in Python or Node.js, cloud certifications and a relevant IT or software engineering degree are desirable.

What else is in it for you?

  • Work across a broad technology landscape spanning cloud, DevOps, automation, ingress, networking, observability, and edge security, with plenty of opportunity to keep building your technical capability.
  • Join a supportive engineering environment with experienced SRE capability around you and exposure to challenging, continuously evolving technology
  • Take real ownership of production platforms, from building and automating them through to improving resilience and responding to incidents.
  • Bring your whole self to work every day and be met by a welcoming bunch of people who respect and support you
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, like the opportunity to work from home two days per week
  • Opportunities for growth and development through formal programs or mentorship
  • Exclusive team member discounts and offers for more cash in your pocket, evolving policies for flexible working, leave types and access to health and wellbeing resources
