Social Media & Content Manager

This is an exclusive full-time position. It is not suitable for you if you are an agency, freelancer, or currently servicing multiple employers or clients.

Full-time | Remote | 7+ years experience | Opportunity to relocate

Please make sure you apply using the application link at the end. Only applications submitted through the link will be reviewed.

Dear Potential Social Media & Content Manager,

I’m not looking for someone who can manage social media. There are plenty of those.

I’m looking for someone exceptional.

If your idea of social media management is creating a content calendar, scheduling posts, publishing them and sending a monthly report showing how many people liked, viewed or followed the account, please stop reading. This isn’t that role.

I am not hiring someone to simply keep our social media accounts active. I am looking for someone who understands that social media is not about posting for the sake of posting. It is about understanding people, earning attention, building trust, creating demand, growing the right audience and ultimately contributing to the growth of the business.

And you need to be obsessed with achieving great results. If your mindset is simply “I’ll do my best and leave the rest,” this is not the environment for you. Here, doing your best has to be tied to an outstanding outcome.

If you treat social media like your operating table, where you dissect what isn't working, rework what is and constantly look for ways to make the whole system perform better; and if you see yourself as a marketing specialist who uses social media as a core part of the marketing engine, not simply as a platform for posting content, keep reading.

And if you're reading this thinking, "This isn't me, but I know exactly who this is," please do us a favour.

Send this to the best social media and content manager you've ever worked with.

I’m looking for the person people turn to when social media isn't doing what it should.

You can take a business objective and turn it into a social media strategy. You can build content pillars, campaigns and a repeatable content system around those objectives, rather than producing disconnected posts that happen to look good on a feed.

You understand hooks, retention, storytelling, engagement and conversion. You know that getting attention is only the beginning. You understand the difference between getting 100,000 views and getting the attention of the right 1,000 people.

You understand that Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube are not simply four places to publish the same piece of content. You understand how people behave differently on each platform and how the content, format, hook and distribution should change accordingly.

You won't wait for someone to tell you what to do next.

You will know what needs doing, why it needs doing, and you will be prepared to get on with it.

Because that's the difference between someone who manages social media and someone who can own it.

You need to get your hands dirty. I don't expect you to do everything yourself. You will work alongside a Marketing Manager, Video Editor and other members of our marketing team. There will be people around you with specialist skills.

You should be able to build and manage a content calendar that isn't simply a list of posts. You should understand what each piece of content is trying to achieve, where it belongs in the customer journey, which platform it is designed for and how it connects to everything else we are doing.

You should be confident in creating video content and editing them when needed. You should be comfortable taking a hands-on approach rather than relying entirely on others to get things done.

You should be confident in managing the day-to-day social media operation across the platforms that matter to our audience.

You should know how to interrogate platform data, understand reach, retention, engagement, shares, saves, profile actions, follower growth and audience quality, and turn those numbers into decisions.

I don't want a monthly report that tells me we gained 500 followers. I want you to be able to tell me what happened, why you think it happened, what we learned from it and what we are going to change because of it.

You should understand community management too. You should know how to turn comments, DMs and conversations into relationships, insights and, where appropriate, qualified opportunities for the wider business.

Ultimately, I need someone who can move confidently between strategy and execution.

Someone who can say, “This is what we should do, this is why we should do it, this is how we should execute it, and this is how we'll know whether it worked.”

That's what I mean when I say I want someone who can get their hands dirty.

If you’re still reading my letter, allow me to introduce myself.

I'm Olatomide Fadipe, the founder of Secure Wealth Group.

As a founder-led UK organisation, we’re building a group of businesses and brands around UK property, investment, education and wealth creation.

Secure Wealth Group is commercially viable. We have tested offers, excellent reviews, expertise, customers, referrals and returning customers. So, I know we are building something the market finds valuable.

We are now ready to scale, and I’m looking for the people who can help us build the systems, brands and engines to do that properly.

So, what exactly would you be joining?

Secure Wealth Property Group (SWPG) - helps clients invest in UK property through a Done For You approach, including hands-off property investment and related property services.

Secure Wealth Academy (SWA) - takes a Done With You approach, helping aspiring and existing property investors develop their knowledge, strategy and practical ability through education, mentorship and implementation.

There is also the wider Secure Wealth ecosystem, including the founder's personal brand, Blueprint for Freedom, where property education, thought leadership, investor content, speaking and media all play a role in strengthening the organisation.

This means you will be helping build the organic social media engine across the Secure Wealth ecosystem.

Your work will help us build authority, attract the right audience, create demand, support campaigns, generate qualified opportunities and strengthen the brands we are building.

And because we are still building, you are not walking into a finished social media machine with everything already figured out. You have the opportunity to help shape what this function becomes as the organisation grows.

We want you to experiment. Test different ideas. Find what works. Kill what doesn't. Build systems around what does.

As the organisation grows, so will the opportunity.

There is potential for increased responsibility, progression into leadership and the opportunity to help build and eventually lead the social media function as the company scales.

We will also invest in the right person through access to relevant tools, resources, training and professional development. For the right candidate, there will be opportunities for performance-related progression and, based on performance and the needs of the business, potential relocation to the UK in the future.

This is a fully remote, full-time position.

This is an eight-hour-a-day role, and I expect you to be actively involved in the social media function throughout the working day. That means being present across our key platforms, monitoring comments and DMs, responding where appropriate, paying attention to what our audience is saying, spotting opportunities, and knowing what is happening across our channels.

It is not a side role that you fit around other clients or employers. We are looking for someone who wants to take ownership of this function and grow with the organisation.

I’m not particularly interested in credentials. What I want to see is evidence.

Show me what you've built. Show me how you've grown something. Show me the problems you faced, what you changed, what you tested, what failed, what you learned and what happened as a result. Show me that you are self-motivated, hungry to succeed and capable of figuring things out when there isn't a ready-made playbook.

I may also ask shortlisted candidates to complete a practical task so I can see how you think, analyse a social media presence and approach a real business problem.

This could be your dream job if you’re the right person.

If you come in and prove that you can build, grow and own our social media engine, I’m not looking at you as someone who will simply remain a Social Media & Content Manager.

I’m offering you a pathway to senior leadership as the organisation grows.

If you want to visualise it, this is what that could look like:

Social Media & Content Manager → Senior Content & Social Media Manager → Head of Socials → Brand Director

And as the wider marketing function grows, there may be opportunities to take on broader marketing, brand and leadership responsibilities too.

Don't just send me your CV or another generic cover letter that tells me what a great social media manager you are.

I would prefer that you also write me a personal letter and complete the application questions. Use them to show me what you've built, what you've achieved, what you've learned and why you believe you're the person to build this with us.

Click here to submit your application.

If you're as good as I'm hoping you are, I'll make the recruitment process worth your time.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes,

Olatomide

P.S. I'm serious about this, and it's a deal breaker for me: this must be an exclusive full-time position. It is not suitable for an agency, someone simultaneously servicing multiple employers or clients, or a freelancer.

P.S.S. References and recommendations from your current or previous employer and colleagues will also be required as part of this recruitment process.
