Position: Social Media Content Specialist

Location: Columbia, MD — hybrid, three days onsite

Position Summary

The Social Media Content Specialist will build and manage Ambu USA’s organic social presence by creating relevant, platform-specific content that connects audiences with Ambu’s products, people, expertise, and events. This hands-on role centers on strong writing and content creation, supported by analytics and project management. The specialist will manage the content calendar, create simple social graphics and short-form video, and use performance data to identify what is working and where Ambu can improve. They will also help establish repeatable workflows for planning, reviewing, and publishing content, moving the social program from reactive requests toward more consistent, audience-focused execution.

This person will partner with Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing, Product Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Events, and creative teams. They should be comfortable working independently on routine content and know when a request needs additional creative, clinical, or compliance review. Advanced design or video-production skills are not required, but the ability to create polished, straightforward assets is essential.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Organic Social Channel Management

  • Own day-to-day organic social execution across Ambu USA’s LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube channels.
  • Manage the editorial calendar, content schedule, publishing cadence, and coordination of channel content with business and marketing priorities.
  • Create platform-native content that gives audiences a reason to engage, including posts, carousels, short-form video, social-first thought leadership, and campaign content.
  • Identify opportunities to grow and engage priority audiences through relevant content, community interaction, and timely responses.
  • Monitor social conversations and escalate sensitive feedback or issues through the appropriate internal channels.

Content Creation

  • Write clear, engaging content for social audiences, adapting the message and tone for each platform and audience.
  • Create clean, on-brand social graphics and carousels using tools such as Canva or comparable platforms.
  • Capture and edit simple, platform-ready vertical video using a smartphone or other lightweight equipment. This may include trimming footage, arranging a clear sequence, and adding captions or on-screen text.
  • Adapt existing brand assets, photography, event footage, and campaign materials into social-first formats.
  • Work with Product Marketing and other partners to develop social content that product managers can share with their sales teams.
  • Repurpose longer-form content, campaign materials, and approved messaging for social while keeping each post appropriate to its platform.

Analytics and Optimization

  • Use Sprout Social or a comparable platform to monitor channel and content performance.
  • Track relevant metrics, identify trends, and explain what the results indicate about audience interests and content effectiveness.
  • Prepare clear performance updates and practical recommendations for improving content, timing, formats, and audience engagement.
  • Consider relevant paid social campaign insights in partnership with Digital Marketing, using them to inform organic content opportunities and messaging.

Project Management and Content Workflows

  • Coordinate content requests and priorities with cross-functional partners, keeping work organized and moving forward.
  • Help establish and maintain practical processes for content intake, planning, review, approval, scheduling, and publishing.
  • Develop and maintain simple guidelines or standard operating procedures that support consistent, timely social execution.
  • Ask for the context needed to develop effective content and route requests for additional creative, clinical, regulatory, or compliance input when appropriate.

Event Content

  • Plan social content before, during, and after key trade shows and events.
  • Coordinate with event, product, sales, and creative partners to identify content opportunities and arrange efficient on-site capture.
  • Capture and publish timely event content when appropriate, including posts, Stories, short-form video, and speaker or product highlights.
  • Travel to approximately three trade shows or events per year. Occasional weekend social coverage may be needed based on event schedules.

Qualifications, Skills, and Education

  • 3–5 years of experience in social media, content creation, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • A portfolio or work samples that demonstrate strong writing and hands-on social content creation.
  • Experience managing organic social channels and creating content for platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment, with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience creating simple social graphics, carousels, and short-form video.
  • Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, Clipchamp, or comparable design and video-editing tools.
  • Experience using Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or a comparable social media management and analytics platform.
  • Ability to interpret social performance data, identify trends, and make practical recommendations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage a content calendar and coordinate work across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently on routine content while seeking input or review when a request calls for additional expertise.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-moving, matrixed environment.
  • Understanding of current social media practices, platform trends, and platform-appropriate content.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in B2B, healthcare, MedTech, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience building or engaging a niche professional audience.
  • Experience creating employee- or sales representative-shareable social content.
  • Familiarity with paid social campaigns and collaboration with paid media or demand-generation teams.
