Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) | Tokyo | ¥7M–¥16M | Business Japanese required

A fast-growing technology business is developing an AI-powered enterprise platform that supports large organizations through complex digital transformation and legacy modernization. The business is scaling rapidly, creating a need for a stronger and more systematic approach to product quality.

As an SDET, you’ll own quality assurance across the development lifecycle, working closely with Product Managers, software engineers, and designers. You’ll define test strategies and test cases for new features, execute functional, integration, regression, and release testing, and investigate defects through to resolution.

A key requirement is hands-on experience with test automation. You’ll develop and maintain automated E2E and API tests, improve test coverage and efficiency, and help make automated testing a dependable part of the development and release process. The role also involves working with customer-facing teams to investigate production quality issues and translating those findings into improvements across the product and QA process.

The ideal background includes practical experience in software QA or SDET roles, strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, and hands-on capability with E2E and API test automation. You should be comfortable investigating complex defects, documenting issues clearly, and collaborating directly with engineers rather than operating QA as a separate function. Experience improving QA processes or establishing scalable quality engineering practices would be particularly relevant.

The role is based in Tokyo with hybrid working and a full flex-time system with no core hours.
