JOB DESCRIPTION: SOLAR PV DESIGN ENGINEER / AUTOCAD DESIGNER
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Employment Type: Part-time, Fixed-term Contract
Duration: 3 Months
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Monthly Salary: ₦300,000 – ₦400,000
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Solar PV Design Engineer / AutoCAD Designer for a three-month part-time engagement.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience designing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and preparing technical drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and project cost estimates.
The successful candidate must be proficient in PVsyst, HOMER Pro, and AutoCAD, with the ability to translate project requirements and site assessment information into accurate, technically sound solar PV designs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and size solar PV systems based on project requirements, energy demand, and site conditions.
Use PVsyst to carry out solar PV system simulations, performance analysis, and energy yield assessments.
Use HOMER Pro to model and optimise energy systems, including hybrid solar, battery storage, and other applicable configurations.
Use AutoCAD to prepare detailed solar PV layouts, electrical drawings, and technical design plans.
Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material schedules, and project cost estimates.
Interpret site assessment reports, load profiles, and technical specifications.
Evaluate system components, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other balance-of-system equipment.
Ensure all designs are technically accurate and comply with applicable electrical and solar PV design standards.
Collaborate with project and engineering teams to review designs and address technical requirements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Demonstrable experience in solar PV system design.
Proficiency in all three of the following software applications:
PVsyst
HOMER Pro
AutoCAD
Strong knowledge of solar PV system sizing, battery storage, hybrid systems, and energy calculations.
Experience preparing BOQs, material schedules, and cost estimates.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, site assessment reports, and electrical specifications.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver accurate technical outputs.
Engagement Details
Duration: 3 months.
Schedule: 3 days on-site and 2 days remotely per week.

Monthly Compensation: ₦300,000 – ₦400,000, depending on experience and technical competence.
