INTERTEK CLEAN ENERGY ASSOCIATES (CEA) provide technical due diligence and engineering services for solar and storage clients around the globe who are financial institutions, project developers, EPCs, IPPs (independent power producers), and PV power plant owners. From our base in China, our team of engineers travel to factories around the globe to conduct upstream in-factory quality assurance via audits, production monitoring and pre-shipment product inspection. From our USA base, our engineering (IE/OE) team provides system design, energy forecasting, product benchmarking, and supply chain services. Downstream, we audit projects through the full cycle, including design, construction, commissioning, project performance, re-power and upgrade analysis, and warranty support. Our team of 125+ professionals including 85+ engineers serve the solar and storage industry through our expertise in PV modules, racking, inverters, and energy storage systems. Since 2008, CEA has reduced Buyers’ risks and improved returns on investments via technical assurance and engineering services covering more than 55 GW+ in 50+ countries. The Solar PV Field Testing Technician will be responsible for supporting field-based technical services throughout the lifecycle of solar PV projects, with a primary focus on on-site testing, verification, and data collection. The role includes performing regular field inspections to assess installation quality, carry out visual and electrical checks, and ensure that measurements and test results are accurate and consistent with site conditions. The technician will also conduct basic reviews of collected data and reports to confirm alignment with field observations. The candidate will coordinate with contractors and client representatives on site, follow internal procedures, and report any deviations, safety concerns, or quality issues identified during inspections. Experience with PV installations is valued, although extensive experience in electrical installations or maintenance is also suitable. Good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a field environment are essential.  Perform on‑site inspections of solar PV installations to verify construction quality and compliance with established procedures. Carry out visual and electrical checks following standardized testing protocols. Review and validate field measurement data, test procedures, and basic test reports to ensure consistency with site conditions. Identify, document, and follow up on deviations, defects, or safety concerns until they are resolved. Participate in site coordination meetings to communicate findings and ensure all required documentation is provided by stakeholders. Support the collection and preliminary review of PR measurements, IV curve data, and other performance indicators. Assist with field testing activities such as electroluminescence (EL) imaging, thermographic inspections, curve tracing, insulation resistance testing, and general visual inspections. Operate, maintain, and properly handle testing equipment including IV tracers, EL cameras, insulation resistance meters, infrared cameras, clamp meters, and multimeters. Coordinate with client representatives and contractors prior to and during site visits to ensure readines for testing activities. Contribute to the preparation of field notes and provide input to final inspection reports to confirm that results match field observations. Vocational training or technical certification in electrical installations, renewable energy, or a related field. (Extensive experience in electrical installations or maintenance may be considered in place of formal education.) Solid understanding of the components and basic operation of PV systems or electrical installations. Strong attention to detail, good documentation habits, and the ability to follow standardized procedures. Good communication skills (written and verbal) and proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications. Ability to work effectively as part of a field‑based team. Previous experience performing electrical tests, measurements, or inspections is preferred. Experience with PV module or inverter testing is a plus. Experience using DSLR cameras is an advantage (for EL imaging and visual documentation). Ability to work outdoors in demanding conditions, including high/low temperatures, nighttime operations, long periods standing, and climbing ladders or stairs. Ability to correctly use personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, reflective vest, hearing protection). Basic understanding of common failure modes in PV systems or electrical installations is preferred. Availability: Immediate Travel: Up to 80% Location: Remote, Europe Compensation: CEA offers competitive salaries, bonus programs and benefits, as well as the opportunity for career progression and professional development. Expenses conditions: CEA will reimburse the employee for any travel or work-related expenses paid during business trips.
