Role Description Southern Africa Language Contributors support Leangoogs AI by providing high-quality language data and insights for AI training and evaluation. This volunteer role is remote and involves tasks such as data collection, transcription, annotation, and validation in one or more Southern African languages. Contributors may review and rate AI outputs, provide human preference data, and participate in safety testing or benchmark creation for text, audio, image, video, and conversational data. Day-to-day activities include following structured guidelines, completing language-related tasks through the platform, and collaborating with coordinators to ensure quality and consistency. The role is suitable for individuals who want to improve AI for Southern African communities while gaining experience in AI data work and language technology.

Qualifications
- Strong proficiency (native or near-native) in one or more Southern African languages and solid command of written and spoken English.

- Understanding of local cultural contexts, idioms, and usage patterns across Southern African communities.
- Reliable internet access, ability to work remotely, manage time independently, and meet task deadlines.
- Interest in AI, language technology, or research; prior experience in linguistics, translation, localization, or data labeling is an advantage.
- Commitment to ethical data practices, confidentiality, and quality-focused collaboration with a diverse global team.
