About AI-4AI
The African Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI-4AI) is committed to equipping Africans and African institutions with the expertise to implement AI responsibly, ensuring it serves as a catalyst for development. We deliver programs across AI literacy, community development, and professional growth. As an institute, we work closely within a broader startup ecosystem.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly adaptable, execution-focused Special Projects Graduate Intern to act as a core generalist across our portfolio. This role offers unique, hands-on exposure to both non-profit community building and fast-paced tech startup growth. You will split your time equally between leading AI-4AI’s educational outreach programs and driving commercial strategy to acquire new customers for Pedagic and Terra.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Partnerships (50%)
Educational Outreach: Lead physical and virtual school outreach programs, drawing on your teaching or facilitation experience to confidently deliver AI-4AI’s mission to students and educators.
Stakeholder Engagement & Fundraising: Identify, pitch, and build relationships with sponsors and partners to secure financial or in-kind donations for our school outreach initiatives.
Community Management: Support the end-to-end management of the AI-4AI membership community, including facilitating virtual networking sessions, icebreakers, and engagement activities.
Venture Growth & Strategy (50%)
Business Development: Formulate and execute actionable business, marketing, and sales strategies to scale both Pedagic and Terra.
Customer Acquisition: Design creative campaigns and growth hacks to increase the active user base and drive revenue for our commercial platforms.
Project Delivery: Ensure all cross-functional projects move swiftly from planning to execution, meeting agreed objectives and timelines.
Who We Are Looking For
Confident Communicator: You have prior teaching, tutoring, or facilitation experience and are highly comfortable with public speaking and presenting to diverse audiences.
Commercial Thinker: You possess strong business acumen and a natural interest in marketing, sales and startup growth strategies.
Persuasive Networker: You have excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to confidently pitch ideas to secure sponsorships or close partnerships.
Adaptable Generalist: You thrive in ambiguity and can seamlessly pivot between managing a non-profit educational initiative and brainstorming customer acquisition strategies for a dating app.
Proactive Executor: You are highly organized, self-directed, and focused on moving ideas into measurable action.
