About the role
We are seeking an experienced, AHPRA registered Injury Prevention & Management Specialist to lead the continuous improvement and governance of injury prevention, rehabilitation and injury management practices across our Australia Pacific business.
Reporting to the Regional Health Lead and working within the AusPac SHES Systems and Governance team, you will manage a broad portfolio spanning workers’ compensation, claims management, rehabilitation, return-to-work programs, injury prevention and litigated claims across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
The role may be based in Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle, Sydney or Melbourne, with Brisbane preferred. It offers hybrid working arrangements and will involve occasional travel across the AusPac region.
What you will be doing
- Lead and help shape the regional injury prevention and management strategy, including improvement initiatives and planning for future business needs;
- Manage workers’ compensation schemes across Australia, including insurer relationships, premium negotiations and jurisdictional requirements;
- Manage a case load of up to 30+, injury and illnesses, initial triage, rehabilitation and sustainable return-to-work planning;
- Coordinate litigated injury, illness and disease claims in partnership with SHES, legal teams and insurers;
- Lead injury-prevention activities, including workplace assessments and the management of musculoskeletal and ergonomic risks;
- Support the management of psychosocial claims and the development of effective psychosocial risk and case-management frameworks.
What you will bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification with current AHPRA registration, ideally as a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, registered nurse or similar allied health;
- At least five years’ experience in injury management, rehabilitation or return to work;
- With experience in mining, resources or an industrial environment, highly regarded;
- Training in workplace rehabilitation and return to work and tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety or a related discipline, highly regarded;
- Strong knowledge of Australian workers’ compensation schemes, including jurisdictional legislation and experience partnering with insurers;
- Demonstrated experience managing litigated claims and coordinating with legal and insurance representatives;
- Experience managing psychosocial claims and risk management frameworks;
- Experience developing safety and health management systems including procedure development, support materials, training etc;
- Demonstrated ability to influence with multiple internal and external stakeholders, building trusted relationships through clear communication, professionalism and a collaborative approach.
