SQL Database Administrator

Lisbon-based opportunity with a hybrid work model, including up to 2 remote days per week.

As a Senior SQL Server DBA & Architect, you will be working for our client in the financial services and asset management technology sector, supporting the stability, performance, and availability of production database environments. You will help evolve multi-database platforms through strategic upgrades, migrations, automation, performance optimisation, and cloud initiatives across Azure, AWS, and GCP.

Your main responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain SQL Server platforms, including versions beyond 2014 and the latest 2022–2025 capabilities.
• Manage platform refreshes, infrastructure and version upgrades, migrations, and cloud database initiatives.
• Develop and maintain T-SQL and PowerShell scripts for automation, administration, and operational utilities.
• Analyse database performance, tune systems, and support development teams in optimising queries and stored procedures.
• Implement and manage high-availability solutions, including Always On and transactional replication.
• Monitor production databases, resolve incidents, manage changes, and participate in crisis management activities and on-call operations.
• Administer and optimise Microsoft BI tools, including SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI Server.
• Apply security policies and maintain comprehensive operational documentation.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 8+ years of experience in database administration, with a senior or expert-level background.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server administration and multi-database environments.
• Experience with Sybase ASE, PolyBase, and Hadoop integration.
• Hands-on knowledge of Always On, transactional replication, T-SQL, and PowerShell.
• Experience with performance tuning, production operations, incident resolution, and change management.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI Server.
• Availability for on-call duties and staggered working hours.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Experience with .NET development, including C#, Angular, or Rust.
• Experience building internal tools and web platforms.

Language Required for the role: Fluent English and mandatory French.
