Job Description

As a Sr. Staff Communications professional, you will drive Shield AI’s strategic communications efforts. You will be responsible for crafting and executing communication strategies that clearly convey Shield AI’s mission, values, and groundbreaking defense technologies. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams as well as external stakeholders to develop content, manage press relations, and support large-scale announcements, launches, and thought leadership initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of Shield AI’s internal and external communication strategies.

• Draft and edit press releases, executive statements, op-eds, and technical content.

• Oversee media relations, develop briefing materials, and manage responses to media inquiries.

• Create and execute communication plans for major product launches, events, and milestones.

• Partner with leadership, product, engineering, and commercial teams to align messaging and corporate narratives.

• Ensure communications accurately represent company capabilities, product roadmaps, and strategic vision.

• Develop and maintain relationships with key media, industry analysts, partners, and stakeholders.

• Support social media, digital content, and thought leadership efforts to build Shield AI’s market presence.

• Monitor industry trends and provide insights to guide communication initiatives.

• Represent Shield AI at industry events, conferences, and with partners as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience in communications, public relations, or related roles, preferably in defense, aerospace, advanced technology, or high-growth environments.

• Proven ability to create compelling, accurate communications for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong written, editorial, and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated experience working with internal partners (leadership, product, engineering, business development) and external stakeholders (media, analysts, customers, partners).

• Experience managing media relations, press cycles, and large-scale announcements.

• Ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear, engaging content.

• Strong judgment, responsiveness, and ability to operate independently in fast-paced, dynamic settings.

• Ability to travel for events, launches, and meetings as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
