About the role:

As an AP1000 SRO Instructor, you will support licensed and non-licensed operator training for AP1000 reactors and may support operating-fleet and global customer needs. The role combines technical learning, operating experience, instructional development, and advanced plant design to strengthen safe and effective plant operation and customer readiness.

The role reports to the US AP1000 Training Manager and the US AP1000 Training Manager bases it at Westinghouse's Cranberry Woods headquarters in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. The position is hybrid at the manager's discretion. It requires, on average, two to three days per week on-site. This supports various activities and needs, including qualifying, delivering training, conducting simulator activities, serving customers, and meeting project needs. Classroom and simulator support may require extended on-site periods. Travel is approximately 25% and may include domestic and international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation activities independently after qualification.·
  • Perform routine initial and continuing training needs analyses within assigned curriculum scope and implement approved training changes.
  • Develop, author, maintain, and independently deliver assigned classroom, laboratory, plant, and simulator training for licensed and non-licensed operations personnel.
  • Use approved technical sources and comply with applicable review, traceability, and configuration-control requirements. Use appropriate subject matter experts to resolve routine technical and instructional questions.
  • Connect plant systems, indications, procedures, operator actions, and plant response using applicable Navy or commercial nuclear experience.
  • Identify student performance gaps and conduct targeted remediation observing program requirements.
  • Incorporate applicable operating experience, procedure changes, corrective actions, plant modifications, and customer feedback into assigned training products.
  • Identify, document, and analyze simulator issues and support testing, implementation, and verification of corrections within assigned qualification and authority.
  • Develop and maintain digital learning content, multimedia, video, models, simulator-based materials, and other instructional technologies within assigned scope.
  • Mentor and guide Junior AP1000 SRO Instructors in qualification, training development, delivery preparation, approved-source use, and routine work execution.
  • Obtain and maintain assigned technical, instructor, simulator, site-access, security, customer, and AP1000 SRO Instructor qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, technology, education, or a related discipline; relevant U.S. Navy nuclear training and qualification; or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of applicable U.S. Navy or commercial nuclear plant experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with nuclear plant operations, systems, procedures, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or technical training.
  • Ability to qualify for independent development and delivery of assigned AP1000 operations training.
  • Experience communicating technical information clearly and collaborate with Training, Operations, Engineering, Simulator, Commissioning, customers, and other partners.
  • Obtain and maintain required nuclear power plant access, customer access, and assigned qualifications.· Ability to travel approximately 25%, including domestic and international travel.
  • Three or more years of applicable nuclear experience.· U.S. Navy nuclear operator, officer, supervisor, or instructor qualification; current or previous NRC RO or SRO license; commercial licensed-operator instructor qualification; simulator experience; or prior technical instruction.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The estimate the base salary range for this position, which depends upon experience, qualifications and skills, to be $69,200 to $95,150 per year.
