Job Description: Staff Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Shanghai, China Department: Mechanical Engineering Reports To: Director / Manager, Mechanical Engineering Position Summary NextPower is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to serve as a technical leader for strategic product development initiatives. This role will provide advanced engineering expertise, drive innovation, establish engineering best practices, and lead the development of highly complex products from concept through global mass production. The Staff Mechanical Design Engineer will influence product architecture, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to deliver industry-leading solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead the mechanical architecture and design strategy for complex product platforms and next-generation technologies. Provide technical leadership across multiple product development programs. Drive innovation in product design, materials, manufacturing technologies, and reliability improvements. Lead advanced engineering analyses including FEA, thermal assessments, vibration analysis, and tolerance optimization. Establish and champion DFM, DFA, Design-to-Cost, Design-for-Reliability, and Design-for-Serviceability methodologies. Review and approve critical engineering designs and technical decisions. Lead system-level design reviews and risk assessments. Develop validation strategies and ensure comprehensive verification of product performance and reliability. Partner with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to achieve successful production launches. Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical challenges. Drive long-term cost reduction and product optimization initiatives. Mentor and develop engineering talent within the organization. Influence technology roadmaps, engineering standards, and development processes. Support executive-level technical discussions and customer engagements as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 10+ years of progressive mechanical product development experience. Demonstrated success leading complex products through the full development lifecycle and mass production. Advanced expertise in mechanical design, FEA, materials engineering, reliability, and manufacturing processes (high volume stamping & roll forming). Strong understanding of global manufacturing operations and supplier development. Proven ability to lead technical decision-making across multidisciplinary teams. Exceptional analytical, leadership, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing power electronics, energy storage systems, power conversion equipment, renewable energy products, or industrial systems. Experience influencing engineering strategy and technology roadmaps. Track record of delivering products at scale with aggressive cost, quality, and schedule targets. Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
