MimoLabs builds Mimo, an agentic system for making physical things. Describe anything and Mimo helps you make it: he designs the geometry, simulates that it can be made, configures material, process and price, and routes it to production, across 3D printing, CNC, laser cutting and more. Mimo ships today as Mimo Studio for anyone regardless of skill, and we are building developer tools and enterprise solutions for more technical applications.

We are a VC funded, experienced technical team, based at Newlab in Detroit and remote across the US.

About the role

You will be the generalist across our codebases, front end and back, who takes an entire project from the first question to production. The product is an agent that helps people make physical things, so the work runs from the interactive 3D view in the browser to the APIs, data model and long-running jobs behind it. You will work with the CTO and the engineering team, and with Mimo itself, every day.

What you will do

• Take whole projects end to end: scope, build, ship and own them, for example a new surface in Mimo Studio from the first design conversation to the metrics after launch.

• Build across the stack: UI, API, data model and the long-running jobs behind them, for example the job that turns a design into a quote and a production-ready file.

• Make 3D in the browser fast and correct on real-world models, for example a large assembly that stays interactive on a laptop.

• Shape the experience of building a part with an agent alongside you: what Mimo shows, asks and does in the interface.

• Measure what users touch: performance, reliability and polish, with the numbers to show it.

You may be a good fit if you have

• 6+ years building customer-facing products, with large contributions to codebases or projects you can point to.

• Depth on one side of the stack and fluency on the other: interactive 3D on the web (Three.js or equivalent) with performance work you can show, or back-end services, APIs and data systems you built and ran.

• React and TypeScript, and a Python back end with relational data modeling.

• Product judgment: you shape the problem, make the UX calls and ship without a product manager.

• Hands-on making: you have printed, machined, molded, soldered or assembled real objects.

• Daily use of AI coding agents, with a high bar on what they produce.

Nice to have

• CAD, 3D printing or product-configurator software.

• WebGPU; glTF asset pipelines.

• Chat and agent interfaces; tool design and evaluations.

• Measured onboarding, activation or conversion work.

• Manufacturing, hardware or shop-floor background.

How we work

Everyone here runs several AI coding agents on our own tooling, and everyone is free to extend that tooling and change how we build. We judge the work by the physical thing it produces: a part that prints, a toolpath that cuts, a quote that holds. We are fast and adaptable, honest with each other about what is working, and we celebrate the wins. We are a small team that loves what it is building. This role needs both product judgment and fluency with how we build.

Pay, equity and benefits

• $150K–$200K base and equity, four-year vesting with a one-year cliff.

Logistics

• Location: remote across the US; the company's home is Newlab in Detroit, with occasional travel there.

• Work authorization: US work authorization is required, and we are not able to sponsor visas for this role. The role works with customer and partner data held under NDA and may require US-person status for export-control compliance.

• Education: no degree requirement.

• AI: we use AI tools to organize and summarize applications; a person reads every application and makes every decision. Use AI to prepare yours if you like; the short answers in the form should be your own.

• Process: a call with a founder, a technical conversation on a real problem from the role, a conversation with the team, references, offer.
