At Caris, we understand that cancer is an ugly word—a word no one wants to hear, but one that connects us all. That’s why we’re not just transforming cancer care—we’re changing lives.
We introduced precision medicine to the world and built an industry around the idea that every patient deserves answers as unique as their DNA. Backed by cutting-edge molecular science and AI, we ask ourselves every day: “What would I do if this patient were my mom?” That question drives everything we do.
But our mission doesn’t stop with cancer. We're pushing the frontiers of medicine and leading a revolution in healthcare—driven by innovation, compassion, and purpose.
Join us in our mission to improve the human condition across multiple diseases. If you're passionate about meaningful work and want to be part of something bigger than yourself, Caris is where your impact begins.
Position Summary
The Strategic Account Executive – Caris Detect is responsible for building and growing high-value relationships that bring Caris Detect, a multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood test, to individuals who are proactively seeking earlier insight into their cancer risk. This role focuses on two complementary segments: (1) concierge medicine, longevity, and functional/integrative medicine practices and membership organizations, and (2) large health systems with high-risk cancer programs and emerging MCED initiatives.
The Strategic Account Executive serves as a consultative partner, clinical-commercial strategist, and trusted advisor to physician leaders, practice owners, and health system executives. The role combines pipeline management, MCED program design, and cross-functional coordination to support successful launch, adoption, and long-term sustainability of early detection programs. While not a people manager, this role works closely with Marketing, Client Services, Operations, Medical Affairs, and Legal/Regulatory to enable account success.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify, prioritize, and develop target accounts across concierge medicine, longevity clinics, functional and integrative medicine practices, executive health and membership programs, and large health systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers including practice owners, medical directors, physician leaders, CMOs, service line leaders (oncology, primary care, preventive medicine, high-risk/genetics), and health system administrators.
- Develop and execute account strategies that position Caris Detect within the appropriate patient populations and align with each account's clinical philosophy, patient experience, and business model.
- Partner with health systems to design, launch, and scale high-risk and MCED programs, including clinical pathways, eligibility criteria, ordering workflows, patient communication, and follow-up processes.
- Lead complex sales cycles, including value positioning, stakeholder mapping, contracting and Lab Service Agreement (LSA) negotiations, and navigation of institutional review and approval processes.
- Support account onboarding and implementation, coordinating with Client Services, Operations, Laboratory, IT, and Marketing to ensure smooth program launch and ongoing service.
- Collaborate with Marketing to deliver compliant provider- and patient-facing materials, co-branded resources, events, and educational programming tailored to each account type.
- Educate clinicians and care teams on the science, intended use, and appropriate application of Caris Detect, including result interpretation and recommended clinical follow-up, in partnership with Medical Affairs.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts focused on utilization, patient engagement, program performance, and growth opportunities.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, activity, and forecast data in CRM; analyze account-level trends to identify adoption barriers and expansion opportunities; and provide timely business updates to leadership.
- Serve as an escalation point for assigned accounts and ensure alignment between customer expectations and Caris operational performance.
- Represent Caris at industry conferences, medical society meetings, and longevity and integrative medicine events.
- Adhere to all Caris compliance policies and applicable laws and regulations, and ensure all promotional and educational messaging is consistent with approved claims and reviewed by Legal/Regulatory as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic account management, diagnostics, genomics, oncology, or complex healthcare sales.
- Demonstrated success selling to physician-owned practices, health systems, or both, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
- Working knowledge of molecular diagnostics, genomic testing, or cancer screening and early detection, and the ability to discuss clinical and scientific concepts credibly with physicians.
- Proven ability to manage long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and to influence without direct authority across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent executive presence, consultative selling, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment processes, including background check, drug screening, and reference check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cancer screening, early detection, or MCED, including commercialization of novel diagnostics.
- Established relationships within concierge, longevity, functional or integrative medicine, or executive health communities.
- Experience supporting health system program development, including high-risk clinics, genetics, or preventive oncology.
- Experience with self-pay, membership-based, or direct-to-consumer-adjacent commercial models.
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance requirements governing diagnostic marketing and provider interactions.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working remotely or on-site with customers.
- Ability to travel by air and automobile for customer meetings and regional responsibilities.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., presentation materials, equipment).
Training
- All job-specific, compliance, and safety training will be assigned based on the responsibilities associated with this role.
- Ongoing training related to Caris products, systems, regulatory requirements, and commercial processes will be required.
Other
- This position requires significant travel (approximately 50% or more).
- Evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required based on customer needs and business priorities.
- This role may require after-hours responsiveness for critical customer or program issues.
