Strategy Director

Role Description The Strategy Director will provide strategic leadership for the Manufacturing Metrology Team’s research and collaboration agenda, ensuring alignment with long-term goals in precision manufacturing and metrology. This part-time remote role involves developing and refining the team’s research and partnership strategy, assessing emerging opportunities, and advising on project prioritization and resource allocation. The Strategy Director will work closely with academic leads to shape strategic roadmaps, contribute to funding proposals, and support the positioning of MMT within national and international initiatives. Day-to-day activities include analyzing research and market trends, consulting with internal and external stakeholders, preparing strategic briefs and presentations, and ensuring effective communication of strategic objectives across partner institutions. The role also includes providing guidance on impact, knowledge exchange, and engagement with industry and policy bodies.

Qualifications

• Strong Analytical Skills to assess research trends, evaluate opportunities, and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Demonstrated experience in Strategic Planning and Business Strategy within academic, research, or technology-focused environments.
• Background in Consulting or Management Consulting, with the ability to advise diverse stakeholders and translate complex information into actionable strategies.
• Proven track record of leading or contributing to strategic initiatives in manufacturing, engineering, metrology, or related technical fields.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work effectively in remote and cross-institutional teams.
• Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., engineering, physics, business, or related field), or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with research funding landscapes, innovation ecosystems, and collaborative projects between academia and industry is highly beneficial.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently in a part-time capacity, and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices.
